fv Translation is correct. ... To see ukrainian characters in FreeDOS, next
fv commands shold be performed:
HP DISPLAY.EXE CON=(EGA,,1)
HP MODE.COM CON CODEPAGE PREPARE=((1125) EGA4.CPX)
HP MODE.COM CON CODEPAGE SELECT=1125
HP KEYB UR,1125,UR.KL

Strange name for layout - isn't Ukraine shortened as UA?

This one goes to Henrique :)

fv And I can't switch back from ukrainian to latin mode (after switching by
fv Left Alt+Right Shift). I download Keyb (with sources) and study them, but,
fv unfortunately, don't clear up this question.

This question to Aitor Santamaria_Merino (aitor.sm at wanadoo.es),
author of KEYB.

I am in process of getting rid of the wanadoo address. Please use
aitorsm at inicia.es instead, thanks!
Regarding the question itself, whichever key combination has been used
to go back depends on the layout itself, so this goes back to Henrique
too :)

(unless KEYB is not doing as it should).

Incidentally, I think I have fixed the infamous DEL key problem, I am
just working on other minor bugs that I have introduced with the library
support, and when it's ready we'll have another version.

Aitor

Hi again,
Zdravstvuyte, (my russian won't go much further -
I'm glad you typed in russian, because my knowledge on ukrainian is just about
the alphabet and a few expressions)

I understood that you're ukrainian and you're used
to KEYUKR.COM, which I just found on the web and I'll try it here to see the
differences between the support that I provided - which was based on Windows XP
and IBM OS/2, since I didn't have access to a localized version of MS-DOS which
assisted the ukrainian language - and the support provided by that third-party
solution, KEYUKR. I'll also compare the character table used with KEYUKR with
the official IBM-DOS codepage 1125.

I also understood that KEYUKR uses Left_Alt
+ Right_Shift to switch to the latin layout - sowe're not talking
about ukrainian MS-DOS KEYB. Anyway, ifKEYUKR is (or was) much more used
on Ukraine than ukrainian MS-DOS (or ifthere was never an ukrainian MS-DOS
at all), please let me know.

Thanks,
Henrique Peron

  Text for Arkady Belousov:
  CON=(EGA,,1)MODE.COM CON CODEPAGE PREPARE=((1125) EGA4.CPX)MODE.COM
CON CODEPAGE SELECT=1125KEYB UR,1125,UR.KL
Keyb

Re: [Freedos-devel] Arkady Belousov - please answer me!

2005-10-07 Thread Henrique Peron
Hi all,

Arkady, this is a matter of layout, so this is for me to solve. :-)

UR is how Microsoft operating systems address the ukrainian keyboards.
UA is how the IBM operating systems do that.
So, I prepared the ukrainian layouts to accept both UA and UR.

Freewolle, I have posted here some messages regarding your problem but it
seems you didn't receive or read them yet.
Once again I suggest you to try switching to the latin layout through
Left_Alt + Left_Shift.
In relation to your keyboard: you used to run KEYUKR and, even though I
found it on the web, I tried it here and I wasn't able to use it
accordingly. I couldn't switch to the cyrillic layout.
I prepared the ukrainian layouts according to the mappings that I found on
Microsoft and IBM websites, so I based myself on the major industry and not
on KEYUKR (which I didn't even know to exist until now).
Please provide me a TXT file or an image file of your keyboard (since it
seems there are two distinct ukrainian kyeboards) and I will be able to help
you.
One thing I can tell for sure: I tested the ukrainian layouts that I
prepared and they both displayed those 4 extra ukrainian letters.

Thanks,
Henrique
