Yes, I vaguely remember, but HX trickery isn't really "DOS".

No idea if it behaves better or not. But, again, it has no DOS port,
so it's less interesting (to me).

Yeah, it still works, I can successfully rebuild FBMD5 under QEMU with
latest FBC. :-)

Free Pascal is better (thanks to smartlinking and no libc dependency).

[Freedos-user] Mounting VirtualBox FreeDOS images in Windows

2016-07-08 Thread Ulrich Hansen
After several tests I have decided to switch the ready-to-use FreeDOS images I
provide on

https://www.lazybrowndog.net/freedos/virtualbox

to the VHD image type. Using VHD instead of VDI (the default type of
VirtualBox) has the advantage that it can be mounted in Windows and other
systems. So you can easily exchange files. You find a walkthrough at:

https://www.lazybrowndog.net/freedos/virtualbox/?page_id=443

I got the idea from our latest discussions, so thanks again!

EXE's from Q64 used to depend from only 8 MiO DLL bloat back in 2010
... no clue how far it works nowadays 6 years later.

AFAIK FreeBASIC still works in DOS (check the forum) ... although the
DGJPP bloat is a bit frustrating.
