Re: [Freedos-user] How create a booting freddos cd live
Hi Bruce, i've download your package, but i've a problem. I running Pupy linux lucid, so the package don't start (also if i use WINE). I've download and extract files on root, then ,with my cd editor i've burned the contents of folder Images with subfolder, but when i boot from cd nothing appear. The notebook seem dead (search on cd and hang up, no isolinux start). I suppose i due setting some command for make the cd bootable, but PBurn don't display this command. Can you create for me a zip file with right iso image (in dos add FDAPM and last DEVLOAD version) , so i can burn directly the cd? P.s. i suppose can be intersting also for others users ,and can be place in Fd distro page under description "FD 1.1. LIVE CD ONLY". Re: [Freedos-user] printing to USB
For solve the problem you can download the free software dosusb http://www.georgpotthast.de/usb/dosusb.zip in the package are insert some utlities for printing via usb port on DOS see for documentation : 3.1 Printer driver There are two printer drivers available. LPT1USB.SYS installs as a LPT1: device while PRNUSB.SYS installs as the PRNUSB: device. So you with the latter driver you can use LPT1: for other printers if needed, while with LPT1USB.SYS you can print from the DOS Editor or other application programs directly. Both are printer device drivers which use DosUSB to print to USB printers. They will work with a HP 2420d Laserprinter, a HP 880C, a HP 5940 and a HP 460C inkjet printer. They will also work with parallel to USB adapters. Check the endpoints and use the setalt utility to set the interface before printing here. LPT1USB.SYS and PRNUSB.SYS are loaded with a "device=" statement in the config.sys file or with the DEVLOAD utility. Load DosUSB then, do not use the /L command line option here! The default device address is one, the default device endpoint is two. Use the command line options e.g. /D2 /E1 to select device address two and endpoint number one. Use USBView to determine the right settings for your printer. These drivers cannot be used with low cost GDI printers, since these do not accept ASCII code for printing. They expect data which controls their print head directly. This protocol is vendor specific and usually not available. If a printer accepts ASCII code via its parallel interface, it usually can also do this via its USB interface. Use "type dosusb.txt > lpt1" or "type dosusb.txt > prnusb" to print the file dosusb.txt from the DOS prompt. Or open "lpt1" or "prnusb" as a file in your application program Michael Potter-4 wrote: > > Hi, > > I have googled and googled and googled this question and have not found an > easy answer. Re: [Freedos-user] PNG viewer
you can use this in conjunction ox HX extender (www.japheth.de) http://www.advsys.net/ken/util/kpic.exe Ken's PICture viewer. Supports: JPG,PNG,GIF,TGA,PCX,BMP. View all files in a directory or files inside a .ZIP. (no need to extract first!) Example: kpic /zduke3d_hrp.zip *.png *.jpg. Select any DirectX mode on the command line. Example: kpic /1024x768 *.* KPIC allows you to scroll and zoom quickly (hold mouse button). It supports a fancy 4x4 filter (uses MMX code) to interpolate samples cleanly when you use the zoom feature. This is a high quality filter - most 3D accelerators use bilinear interpolation which is only a 2x2 filter :) There are 3 interpolation modes; use TAB to select between them. (Mode 0:4x4 when stopped/nearest when moving, Mode 1:4x4 always, Mode 2:nearest always). Mkisofs and cdrecord seem to work , but don't recognizing the aspi drivers for dos. i.e. i load panasonic usbaspi.sys and usbcd.sys. then, if i create a .raw files from a directory on HDD with mkisofs all work fine. But if i try to merge the a files with magic number to a existing multisession cd i receive a message like" aspi drivers don't found". I suppose cdrecord and mkisofs search WIN drivers and don't recognizing DOs drivers loaded. Someone have a suggestion for work around to problems. It has been years since PictView for DOS was successfully compiled last time. It has been years since my DOS machine died. About releasing source code: it contains a lot of know-how and most of it is used in today's commercial (non-DOS) versions of PictView. Plus there are many licensed (paying) users of PictView, including the DOS versions, that prevent me from releasing the source code public. [Freedos-user] patch for concatenation problems of Arachne under freedos
Hi at all, it's possible patch in kernel or freecom this problem caused a problem when arachne work under freedos? See in attachment the comment of Joe da Silva (arachne developper) -Snip- Hi Roberto, s you may recall, the problem I found with FreeDOS compatibility was with the following line in 'mime.cfg' : file/apm.dgi >HTM|[100]copy $eapm.htp+$esystem\\apm.db\\*.htm $2>NUL Unfortunately, the command processor in FreeDOS gets confused by the somewhat elaborate concatenation required here. OTOH, both M$-DOS and DR-DOS handle it without any problem. In searching for a solution, I tried a few file copy and concatenation utilities. The one I found that could be made to work was 'cat.exe' from the lynx386 distribution (BTW, I think this utility originally came from www.delorie.com). If you copy this 'cat.exe' into the Arachne directory (or if we include it in future distributions), then the following line in 'mime.cfg' works with FreeDOS (and other DOSes) : file/apm.dgi >HTM|cat -s $eapm.htp $esystem\\apm.db\\*.htm >$2 Note that the "-s" option (must be lower case) forces 'cat.exe' to treat files as ASCII, so doesn't copy any ^Z characters ... Joe. PS. I'm going to forward this to the Arachne Development list too, since I think this is of general interest for Arachne. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/patch-for-concatenation-problems-of-Arachne-under-freedos-tp16418179p16418179.html Sent from the FreeDOS - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. - Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace. I supposte the best solution is the upgrade of freedos undelete with fat32 support. Someone want to try?
