FREERADIUS & OPENBSD " I am new to radius"

2003-10-08 Thread TEST
Hi All,

I finely got freeradius to run openBsd thank you all for your help ... I
now have a new question for the list, as you can see below I have the
server up and running after the configuring Clients, users, naslist, and
naspasswd files ... When I test the server with ntradping I receive a
response "no response from server request timed out" Is there some thing I
have missed in the config , any ideas please to where I should look next
Thanx

OpenBsd & Freeradius

2003-10-04 Thread TEST
Hi all,

I am new to your list and wanting some help in installing freeradius on to
openbsd 3.3. I have a copy of the book Radius by O'Reilly and is a very good
read. The book deals mainly with a Linux install. I have been using OpenBsd
for the past 4 years and would like to stick with the bsd OS if I can..(
Note I am new to Radius I have to start somewhere ) I have tried to install
freeradius on to openbsd it looks to be striate forward until I type "make"
. The make possess stops on line 18 of the Makefile and I can not work out
why ... Can any one on the list give me some pointers on installing
Freeradius on openbsd easily.

Thank you all

Michael

I'm going to de-lurk for a second for this...

I subscribed to the list several months ago, when I downloaded
FreeRadius and was having some problems with configurations. I've asked
some questions, but not a whole lot and (hopefully) not redundant ones.

But I was able to do just what Alan says - read through the config
files, comment/uncomment and change these settings, and get it working.
I'm not a big system admin (I run this out of my home, for fun, strange
as that sounds), and I haven't yet read the RFC's, but I understand the
basic way that RADIUS works, and can figure things out so long as there
isn't any programming involved.

It works; it works well; and the list is there for when *that* fails, at
least in my most humble opinion. Alan's replies are terse, often refer
to the configs or ask for patches (it's an open-source project,a fter
all, right?) and that's fine; he also replies *quickly* and in cases
where something is wrong, with pointers and help in the right direction.

Subscribing to the list if you plan to use it is a *great* idea, as a
lot of things you might come across will be mentioned, and specific
examples for out-of-the-way hardware.

But for someone to send some sample configs - to my thinking, that's
what the default config files *are*.

Now back to my cave...
