Freeradius Expiration Date

2006-03-30 Thread Atkins, Dwane P

I have looked into the db_mysql.sql and found that their was start and
stop dates in the radacct.  If I can get freeradius to use the radcheck
table, does this mean it will automatically see the radacct table and use input
from this table as well?

Thanks

I appreciate the input, I am looking for the README that will tell me
how to use the Expiration attribute in the Users file, but how does one
correlate it to the mysql database?  Is there field in the radius database
tables?

Can I do a bulk add with dates that will allow me to do this?

Thanks

Expiration Date using Freeradius 1.1.1 and mysql

2006-03-29 Thread Atkins, Dwane P

Good morning all,

I would like to be able to begin and expire accounts on certain dates,
but I would like to be able to do it by input information into the radius
database that I have created using mysql.

Also, I appreciate the help you all have given.  If I have one bit of
information to share with new freeradius people, it is to slow down and do not
get ahead of yourself.  Once I took it step by step, all the piece feel into
place.  I get access-accepts using radtest, sql logins and even NTRadPing.  So
I have come quite far in a week.

Thanks again.

RE: Still having issue with radtest

2006-03-25 Thread Atkins, Dwane P

I apologize for not using
proper terms since this is new to me, I tend to associate to something I do
know.

1.) Since I attempting to use the sql
database for authentication purpose, would it be best if I made sure that [EMAIL PROTECTED] (my username I chose) be in
the users file and also be granted privileges on the sql database (I chose to
call it radius as well)

2.)  When doing the radtest, would the
proper syntax be radtest radius radiustest localhost 1645 baseball (with
baseball being the shared secret also entered into the clients.conf file) or
should there be quotes around the shared secret.  My apologies for calling
it a preshare key.  This is an IPSec term that I have used for a few
years.

3.)  I have read documentation.
I have bought the O'Reilly Book and read it.  I have reinstalled my server
and all to no avail.  I appreciate the help you all give, but I am
stuck.  I am sure I overlooked the issue, but at this point, I cannot see
it.

Thanks again.

A couple questions I have not asked
about this issue?  Do both the [EMAIL PROTECTED] and localhost need access to the
Sql database.  I am at a loss as to why everytime I run this process, it
tells me that I have an invalid preshare key.  Do they preshare keys need
to be in quotes.  If I have a user called radius with a password of
radiustest and my localhost preshare is BASEBALL, then would my syntax be,
radtest radius radiustest localhost 1645 BASEBALL ?  Or woudl I need to put
quotes around the alpha characters.  I cannot move on until I get this
resolved obviously  and I am not sure where to try.  I can get issues
resolved with the SQL portion, but to get it to see the local host, I am at a
loss.

If anyone can think of anything else I can possibly
try, please let me know.  If not, I appreciate all your

sql.conf

2006-03-20 Thread Atkins, Dwane P

Why is it that when I run a radiusd –X, I always come back with
errors on saying that it cannot connect to the mysql server:

rlm_sql (sql): starting 1

rlm_sql (sql): starting 2

rlm_sql (sql): starting 3

rlm_sql (sql): starting 4

rlm_sql (sql): Failed to connect to any SQL server.

I have put this in my sql.conf like so:

# Connect info

    server =
"localhost"

    login =
"radius"

    password =
"x"

    # Database
table configuration

    radius_db =
"radius"

What am I doing wrong?  I have followed a number of whitepapers to
install this and most of them say the same thing.

I downloaded freeradius and mysql-server using the ‘yum install’
option.  Now, when I do a ./configure on freeradius, do I need to do it with a –with—mysql
option?

Should I try this on something other than FC4?  I am opened to options.

Thanks

All,

I appreciate the help you have given me on this and I am pretty sure I am

When I do the radtest, it always tells me that:

I have checked and double checked the shared secret in Users, sql.conf,
radiusd.conf.

Any ideas?

Thanks again

Expiration Dates

I was not sure if this
got to mailing list or not.  I have done some research and could not find where
you can enter start and stop dates through freeradius.

Is there a way that I can
input the start and stop time for user as far as in like an expiration date?
Let say you are a contractor and need access for the 5 duty days you are in
town.  Can I put a config in that says, start on the 1st, end on the 5th?

Thanks for all you
inputs.  Truly helpful.

RE: Freeradius-Users Digest, Vol 11, Issue 39

2006-03-10 Thread Atkins, Dwane P
Thanks for all the input. I have one more question.

Is there a way that I can input the start and stop time for user as far as in
like an expiration date? Let say you are a contractor and need access for the
5 duty days you are in town. Can I put a config in that says, start on the
1st, end on the 5th?

Thanks for all you inputs. Truly helpful.

Dwane

how about

1. Is there a good document that I can follow that will give me
step-by-step instructions to install freeradius on Fedora 4? I would even
do FreeBSD if need be but I am more familiar with the FC 4 processes.

yum install freeradius

2. Is there a GUI front-end that will allow us to https into the
FreeRadius Server and make changes to the mysql database?

google for phpmyadmin and dialupadmin

3. Where would I find the debug documents that I read about when I
execute the radtest executable?

man radrest

2006-03-09 Thread Atkins, Dwane P

Thank you for this mailing list.  I am trying to install Freeradius on
a FC4 device.  I am also trying to use the MySql database function.  I am
having problems getting a good install.  So, as usual, I have a few questions
for you all.

Is there a good document that I can follow that
will give me step-by-step instructions to install freeradius on Fedora 4?
I would even do FreeBSD if need be but I am more familiar with the FC 4
 processes.

Is there a GUI front-end that will allow us to
https into the FreeRadius Server and make changes to the mysql database?

Where would I find the debug documents that I
read about when I execute the radtest executable?

Thanks for the help.

Dwane
