what is State Attribute & Proxy-State Attribute

2004-03-03 Thread amekrani

Hi ALL,
           We
are in process of initial SRS phase for implmentation of RADIUS server
through RFC 2865, please can any body let me know what is the purpose of
State-Attribute and Proxy-State attribute. The example in RFC 2865 confuses
me , as taken for magic cokkiees.

One more query in mind is say the RADIUS
server has authentcated and the NAS has started providing the services
to the user , is it the case that the RADIUS goes out of the picture except
for the Accounting part or it still stay for authenticating all the requests/commands
which the user issues. because it may be the case that once the user had
got the services he can mis-use the same.

Thanks in advance.

  Because the names are automatically created at run-time, based on
the module names.

Question regarding shared secret ..!!

2004-05-27 Thread amekrani

Hi All,
        I
would like to as a general question about RADIUS Server.

Case 1:
N1=NAS Client
R1=RADIUS Server

N1

   R1

Then should it be the case that there
should be a silent discard at R1 for a request. or R1 should respond to
N1 and N1 should check the authenticator and on the mismatch the packet
should be dropped at N1 while returning.

Case 2:

N1=NAS Client
P1=Proxy RADIUS Server
R1=RADIUS Server

N1

   P1

R1

Then in this case should the packet
should be dropped at R1 or it should be retuned from R1 to P1 and then
dropped.

What should be the answer for case 1
and 2 and WHY.

Your Answers are valuable for me.

Asif Mekrani
