[Freeswitch-users] Transferring to another extension is VERY slow.

2009-08-29 Thread Erik Wickstrom
Hi,

I'm having some trouble debugging why the transfer command is so slow
in my case. I have a lua IVR setup which responds to user selections
by transferring the call to another dialplan ext. Pretty basic stuff.

The problem is, it takes 30-40 seconds for the the transfer to
actually start after the key press. After about 30 seconds of
silence, "hold music" finally starts and the other extension finally
answers shortly thereafter.

I've tried transferring to endpoint extensions, the 5000 sample IVR,
hold music -- in all cases there is this long pause.

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Thanks!
Erik

Re: [Freeswitch-users] FS in Amazon EC2 for production?

2009-05-27 Thread Erik Wickstrom
It's been under pretty light use. About 20 users. A bunch of DIDs coming
in and some outbound campaigns. A couple hundred calls a day. (we also did
a test for an outbound campaign with 8 telemarketers making 1000s of calls
in a day -- worked great!)

The AMI is based on Ubuntu 8.04. We're using the smallest instance at this
point, so it's $70/mo + bandwidth/storage ~~ maybe $80/mo.

The loadavg is always at 0.00.

I've been running a production FS app on EC2 since December. It's been
really stable. Same server/instance since day1. We've haven't had any

[Freeswitch-users] Thin Client VOIP setup?

2009-02-25 Thread Erik Wickstrom
Hi,

I've deployed Freeswitch as our phone system at work. We now want to use
our new phonesystem in a phone room with thin clients (Terminal Server,
possibly LTSP) for each agent. Ideally, we'd like to use x-lite or another
softphone for each agent.

The desired workflow for the agents is as follows:
1) A web based CRM with click to dial. (and customer data card etc)
2) Agent clicks dial button and is connected to customer
3) Interact with CRM...

>From what I've read so far, there are some challenges that need to be
overcome in deploying softphones over thin clients.

Has anyone here had any success in setting up a system like this? I'm I
asking for trouble trying to use softphones with thin clients (should I just
use hardware phones? Do they support click to dial?)

Thanks!
Erik

Re: [Freeswitch-users] Trouble getting session.setInputCallback working.

2009-01-08 Thread Erik Wickstrom
Yes, I think so. It seems that it just doesn't work while doing an api call
such as session.execute("playback", "/path/to/file.wav")

Is this the correct behaviour? Are calls made with execute "blocking"?

Thanks!
Erik

[Freeswitch-users] Trouble getting session.setInputCallback working.

2009-01-08 Thread Erik Wickstrom
Hi all,

I'm trying to get a setInputCallback function working with mod_python. I'm
using a current svn checkout for my build and the hello world via call
example from the wiki (
http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Mod_python#Hello_World_via_call ).

I've tried repeatedly, but I can't get the callback function to execute. I
keep pressing various digits on my phone, but none of them are being logged
to the console. My understanding is that this callback is supposed to fire
when a dtmf (123456789*#, right??) and also acts as an event handler for
things like mod_vmd.

Is this part of the wiki example working for anyone else? Any idea what I
might be doing wrong?

Thanks!
