Nope. I am running it as root, and root has
absolutely no mail spool. And I can see from the
'freevo_record.log', as well as '/var/log/messages'
that the cron job is running properly.

It's commented out... the '#' at the beginning is added by the
recording stuff if: (a) it was recorded by the daemon or (b) it
started recording while being added, like if you selected a show which
had just started.

Try taking out the '#' and set the date to sometime in the future,
because otherwise, the command looks fine.

Are you sure the # wasn't added later, after the event had passed? That's
what happens on mine.

Alan- where does root's mail go? Is it redirected to another user?
Try mailing root and see where it goes. I wonder if you've got error
messages somewhere else. If you don't redirect cron somewhere they go to
mail. If you redirect root's mail to alan, then check alan.

Still testing...

Not 100% sure, but maybe about 90% (I scheduled it a
good 20 mins before the start time) :-) I can
schedule another recording tonight, and immediately
check the '/tmp/freevo_record.lst' file to see if it
made it in there right away.

Alan- where does root's mail go? Is it redirected to
 another user?

Nope, not as yet, anyay. This is a relatively fresh
install, so I haven't really done any system setup
stuff as far as that goes. I will check the 'alan'
mailbox though, just in case, but I think that only
exists because I was playing with using Samba as a
Win2k domain controller over the weekend :-)

[Freevo-users] S-Video In and Freevo

2003-03-24 Thread allan
Im sure someone out there has a setup like this. I just want to input my
Dishnetwork Sat receiver into my Pinnacle PCTV card via SVideo. I have
got this working with XAWTV no problem but I cant seem to find a setting
with Freevo where you would change the input to svideo. I dont care even
about the tv listings guide at this time. I just want to have input via
S-Video.

Thanks for any help.

Well, I did add it about 15 or 20mins prior to the
actual time to be recorded. I am not sure wha you
mean by '(a)'? I did schedule the recording through
the program guide in freevo... is that what you mean?
So if I do that, I then have to edit the
'freevo_record.lst' file to uncomment the entry?

Try taking out the '#' and set the date to sometime

I'll schedule another recording when I get home
tonight, and make sure the '#' is removed. If I have
any other issues with it, I will let you know... :-)

Thanx! I hope it works! :-)

RE: [Freevo-users] How to do TV recording??

2003-03-24 Thread K. Creason
Hey all-
still trying to find out why some of are having problems make scheduled
recordings.

I made this change to record_daemon.py (adding only the log item if it is in
the window):
# Don't start anything that is within 30 seconds of the end.
if self.start_time = now (self.start_time + self.length_secs -
30):
# We're inside the time window for this item

log('No time! in 30 second window.')
return 1
else:
return 0

And it logs it every time! Is this a bug, or did I not write it in the
correct location?
I apologize, I don't know python yet...

The good news is I got rid of my library error by running 'freevo execute
runtime/copy_libdep.py'.
But still no scheduled recordings.
-Kevin

[Freevo-users] on multiple cd-roms freevo plays always the first!

2003-03-24 Thread J. Reiner
Hello,

I have multiple cdrom drives connected to
my linux box. i have updated the config script
and so far all works well.

if i play a title freevo starts mplayer
to play the cd. but mplayers ever plays
per default from /dev/cdrom otherwise
a special parameter has to be set.
so i think the only thing to do is give
mplayer the right parameter devicename perhaps.

But how and where can i do this.

Thank your for any response.

Joerg Reiner
