It's in CVS; I can't speak to the RPMs, you may have to ask the
maintainer.

[Freevo-users] Setup Error

2003-10-15 Thread Mike LeVan

Hi all,

I have had a hard time setting up recording in version
1.3.4, so I decided to try to set up version 1.4rc1.

I used the RPM's from the sourceforge site. I copied
the freevo_config.py to local_config.py and added in the
TV channels.

I ran freevo's setup and got the following:

cdparanoia = ./runtime/apps/cdparanoia
chanlist = us-cable
display = x11
geometry = 800x600
jpegtran = ./runtime/apps/jpegtran
lame = ./runtime/apps/lame
mplayer = /usr/bin/mplayer
oggenc = ./runtime/apps/oggenc
renice = /usr/bin/renice
setterm = /usr/bin/setterm
tv = ntsc
version = 2.1

Now, when I try to run freevo, I get the following error:
==

ERROR: The version information in freevo_config.py does't
match the version in /etc/freevo/freevo.conf.
please rerun "freevo setup" to generate a new freevo.conf

You are using version 2.1, changes since then:
The changelist has not been updated, please notify the developers!

==

I have read through the files, and I am not quite sure
what I need to change in either the freevo_config or
local_config files.

I feel that this must be obvious, but I am a bit of
a freevo newb, so I am a little hesitant to really
mess with the code too much. I have tried to alter
this line:

FREEVO_CONF_VERSION = setup_freevo.CONFIG_VERSION

To this:
FREEVO_CONF_VERSION = 2.1

But I still get the same error.

Thanks for the help,
Mike

Re: [Freevo-users] record command

2003-10-15 Thread Michael Ruelle
Make sure you are setting the recording input right. By default it is set to
micin. You have to change it to linein. You can do that with a '-i R' or '-l
R' in addition to turning on audio with a '-i 80' or '-l 80'

You cannot combine the two into one. so you must do something like
'aumix -i 80 -i R' or use -l not sure which one.

I've been trying to get recording to work, and i'm pretty sure my record

I've checked in aumix and everything is turned up - does anyone know

[Freevo-users] How to stop lircd-commands from being repeated?

2003-10-15 Thread Markus Schneider
Hello,

my regards go to the freevo developers for the latest improvements.

My personal experience with freevo's lirc-support is that it feels much
smoother now (using 1.4rc1). For example, the scrolling in huge
directory-lists works pretty well for me (no more annoying delays when I
stop pressing the up/down key).

One issue remains for me:

Some commands (like SELECT or DISPLAY) should not have repetition at
all. I often start the random playlist in a music directory accidentally
when I just wanted to browse it (because I pressed a little too long).

I tried to solve this by changing my lircrc-file:

begin
   remote = SONY_PS2
   button = ENTER
   prog   = freevo
   config = SELECT
  repeat = 0
end

begin
   remote = SONY_PS2
   button = DISPLAY
   prog   = freevo
   config = DISPLAY
  repeat = 0
end

I first thought that my lircd.conf (or even my remote) would be the
problem. However, if I use irexec (even parallel to freevo) with the
following configuration, it works without unwanted repetitions.

begin
   remote = SONY_PS2
   button = ENTER
   prog   = irexec
   repeat = 0
   config = echo "Hello world!"
end
How can this be? I thought an application using lirc would only receive
one command-event for a keypress if repeat=0...

Best regards,
Markus Schneider

Yes. You must still have TV_CHANNELS configured in your local_conf.py.

Assuming it can, how can I start the Record Server manually as a check?
Whatever I try and organise the web interface resolutely announces the

Things have changed a bit since the 1.3.4 release. The docs are
probably more geared towards 1.4. Can you try out the 1.4-rc1 rpm's
instead? I think you will have better luck. :)

[Freevo-users] G400 TV-Out

2003-10-15 Thread Mike Heanssgen
Just got my new G400 TV-Out card for my Freevo box. Anyone else using this
card? What kind of setup issues (if any) have you had?

I've done some pre-searching while waiting for delivery of the card and have
found a couple sites for the G400. Can anyone provide links that may help
set it up under Redhat 9?

Thank is advance everyone..
Mike

P.S. I also have a Sigma Designs Netstream 2000/TV card that does component
YPbPr at native 1920/1080i resolutions but I'm having some probs with that
under Redhat9 since the "open source" drivers that Sigma provides are not so
open source (limited) and they've stopped development at kernel 2.4.19. Rh9
uses kernel 2.4.20. Anyone else have this card as well? --- this is
probably very rare since it's a specialty card...

Re: [Freevo-users] debian testing dependecies

2003-10-15 Thread Aubin Paul
Debhelper affects the _building_ of packages, not the installation. If
you want to use precompiled packages you'd need to have a package
called 'python' with version 2.3. This is not the same as having
python2.3

The python package depends on the default version of python. You'd
either need to grab the 'python' package from unstable (shouldn't be
hard since it has almost no dependencies except Python2.3 itself)

Re: [Freevo-users] debian testing dependecies

2003-10-15 Thread Juha
Could you please elaborate? I've got version 4.1.75 of debhelper
installed, the same as in unstable. I'd love to make it just work[tm] ;)

But doing eg.

bash:~# apt-get install python2.3-mmpython
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  python2.3-mmpython: Depends: python (>= 2.3) but 2.2.3-3 is to be
installed
E: Broken packages

thanks, Juha

Re: [Freevo-users] debian testing dependecies

2003-10-15 Thread Aubin Paul
It's because old versions of debhelper don't support 2.3. The best
thing to do is grab a backport (or backport it youself)

Right, but it uses a different packaging system; I don't know much
about RPMs, but maybe Wan Tat Chee would be able to provide them for
him.

Re: [Freevo-users] debian testing dependecies

2003-10-15 Thread Juha
Ok, no big deal. Especially if most of the packages have debian/ build
rules as you said.

The thing with the dependencies is a bit annoying though. The one
dependency that seems to cause all the trouble is python2.3. What the
dependency checking system can't seem to figure out is that I actually
have python versions 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 installed, but only the 'debian
testing' default one, ie. python2.2 is detected.

anyhow, got some compiling to do... ;)

thanks, Juha

Hi All!

Excuse me if my question is just caused by my own mistake. But I can not use
the the Page UP/DOWN key to scroll through my Music Directory. Is this just
a problem of myself or isn't the Page UP/DOWN Key available at all?

[Freevo-users] RPM for freevo full binary release 1.4-rc1 available

2003-10-15 Thread Wan Tat Chee
I've just uploaded the full binary RPM packages for 1.4-rc1,
named freevo-*rpm. Please read the release notes for more information.

You don't need this if you've already configured your system to
use the freevo-src*rpm and freevo-deps packages.

PS. The freevo-core-suite and freevo-recording-suite metapackages
have also been updated to reflect new dependency information.

2003-10-15 Thread Peter Svensson
 ..but.. it's right there in your local_conf.py. It reads
LOCAL_CONFIG_VERSION instead of CONFIG_VERSION, doesn't it?

I reported this as a bug on the devel list just now.

Anyway, don't touch your freevo_config.py. What you need in your
local_conf.py at the top is:

LOCAL_CONF_VERSION  =.9
CONFIG_VERSION  =.9

The first variable is defined in the example file, what's missing is
the second variable. I think you spelt the LOCA_CONF_VERSION incorrectly
in your file.

Of course, this is known to be true only for 1.4-rc1. Things may change in
the next version (or in CVS currently).

SV: [Freevo-users] Re: new freevo

2003-10-15 Thread Peter Svensson
I think that freevo_config.py has a line with LOCAL_CONFIG=3.9, whereas
local_config.py should have CONFIG_VERSION=3.9

They look kind of the same, and it has fooled me more than once. Also, some
version(1.4.x, cvs-or-not) apparently used the _wrong_ variable name in the
example local_config.py, just to make things more interesting :-)=

that is what I figured, but both files already have that line and have
it
commented out. They both show 3.9.

I will check again, though.

Re: [Freevo-users] Re: new freevo

2003-10-15 Thread skeeterskip
that is what I figured, but both files already have that line and have it
commented out. They both show 3.9.

I will check again, though.

Re: [Freevo-users] Re: new freevo

2003-10-15 Thread Dave Smylie
you need to edit local_config.py and add the line:

CONFIG_VERSION  = 3.9

somewhere near the top.

make sure its the version that you are using - by the looks
/root/.freevo/local_config.py

I would advise removing the other copy so as to avoid possible confusion
later on.
