I know, that bug will be fixed soon (I thought it was fixed)

Ouch, that shouldn't happen. Did you choose a special skin?

Does it work under X?

[Freevo-users] Gentoo freevo start problem

2003-10-31 Thread Xavier Garcia
I run the rsync-gentoo script and emerge the freevo-1.4_rc1 ebuild without
problems (i only need to emerge manually libdvdread, needed by mmpython).
When I start freevo I get this output:

config.py (405): Logging to /var/log/freevo/main-0.log
Error: TV_SHOW_DATA_DIR not found
COVER_DIR not found
MOVIE_DATA_DIR not found
osd.py (419): SDL Driver: fbcon
skin.py (77): Imported skin main
main.py (345): Skin: Loading XML file blue2
skin not found, using fallback skin
osd.py (282): Loading font "/usr/bin/../share/freevo/fonts/VeraBd.ttf"
osd.py (282): Loading font "/usr/bin/../share/freevo/fonts/VeraBd.ttf"
osd.py (282): Loading font "/usr/bin/../share/freevo/fonts/VeraBd.ttf"
osd.py (282): Loading font "/usr/bin/../share/freevo/fonts/VeraBI.ttf"
osd.py (282): Loading font "/usr/bin/../share/freevo/fonts/VeraBd.ttf"
osd.py (282): Loading font "/usr/bin/../share/freevo/fonts/VeraBd.ttf"
osd.py (1067): Trying to load file "/usr/share/freevo/images/aubin_bg2.jpg"
osd.py (1067): Trying to load file
"/usr/share/freevo/images/splashscreen.png"
osd.py (282): Loading font "/usr/bin/../share/freevo/fonts/Vera.ttf"

and nothing more happens, freevo draw the top menu in screen ( but without
taken in account my /etc/freevo/local_conf_py) and no freevo process is
runnig.

I don't know how I can trace back what happens

Please, any clues ???

Xavier Garcia

plugin.activate('idlebar') should work. If not, any messages from
Freevo about it?

2003-10-31 Thread Jan Grewe
Hehe, you gotta use plugin.activate('idlebar.system.sensors') for example,
the idlebar plugins were split into multiple files, so just see what plugins
don't work anymore and look for the correct names in your freevo/plugins
dir!

That's strange. But Gentoo users should use the ebuild. Download
rsync-freevo from freevo.sf.net/gentoo, run it and emerge freevo.

You are using the runapp but no runtime? What file did you download?

If you use the full binary version, you don't need that file. For the
source distribution, you can use 'python setup.py install' to install
Freevo directly into your system (but you don't have to).

Re: Re: [Freevo-users] Freevo doesn\\\'t start on Gentoo 1.4

2003-10-31 Thread krasu
No it's the default make conf of the Pentium 4 install cds.
I've no USE flags set nor have I altered CFLAGS.
Mysterious to me is that this problem occurs on two different boxes...well both
installed with the same make.conf.
I've emerged freevo.
And I think a broken python would be cause a lot more trouble thinking of portage?!

--- original Nachricht Ende

Probably not what you want to hear, but I just installed freevo on a Gentoo
1.4 box w/o any problems. Did you emerge freevo, or build it on your own? I
am new to Gentoo, this is my 1st Gentoo install, but are you running with
some very optimized flags in your make.conf? If so, maybe you have compiled
a broken binary of python or something else!!

2003-10-31 Thread joe bloggs
T.C.
Many thanks for the suggestions.

Just one other question. If I am installing freevo
using the tgz file do I need to use the setup.py file?
Freevo works just fine without running this file.
So what is the purpose of setup.py?

I understand you can use it for building and
installing python programs but like I said, freevo
works just fine without running it.

Many thanks in advance,
Joe

Re: [Freevo-users] Freevo doesn\'t start on Gentoo 1.4

2003-10-31 Thread Tom Weichmann
Probably not what you want to hear, but I just installed freevo on a Gentoo
1.4 box w/o any problems. Did you emerge freevo, or build it on your own? I
am new to Gentoo, this is my 1st Gentoo install, but are you running with
some very optimized flags in your make.conf? If so, maybe you have compiled
a broken binary of python or something else!!

[Freevo-users] Freevo doesn\'t start on Gentoo 1.4

2003-10-31 Thread krasu
Hi,

I'm running into the same problem on two different boxes.

If I start freevo it crashes with
./freevo: line151: Illegal instruction ./runapp python -OO
src/main.py $@

The log internal-runapp-0.log states:
runapp: PATH = /sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
runapp: CWD = /opt/freevo
runapp: av[0] = './runapp'
runapp: av[1] = 'python'
runapp: av[2] = '-OO'
runapp: av[3] = 'src/main.py'
runapp: runtime NOT FOUND
runapp: newav[0] = 'python'
runapp: newav[1] = '-OO'
runapp: newav[2] = 'src/main.py'

First I thought installing missing deps like egenix-mx-base and some others would
solve the problem but the problem remains.
Then I've traced the error down to the line of code where the illegal instruction
seems to occur:

./skins/main1/area.py
Screen.show
self.s_content.blit(self.s_alpha, (x0, y0), (x0, y0, x1-x0, y1-y0))

(on both machines the same)

The values of the variables are:

self.s_content =
self.s_alpha =
x0 = 0
y0 = 0
x1 = 800
y1 = 600

Has anyone some hints for me to solve this problem, which as I said occurs on 2
different Gentoo 1.4 boxes?

Oliver

AW: [Freevo-users] xmame.SDL and dxr3

2003-10-31 Thread Jan Grewe
Have you tried setting the xmame parameters in the local_conf.py? Check
"xmame.SDL --help"

Betreff: [Freevo-users] xmame.SDL and dxr3

Sorry if this has been asked before(and for possible OT). Has anyone gotten
xmame.SDL working with DXR3? I get the following error:

SDL: Unsupported Vid_depth=8 in depth=16

Is there an environment variable that can set the depth?

Thanks,
