I know about this thread, I have already "contributed" to it. At least, it seems that
it is really a problem with v4l2.

The provider scan gave me the french channel TV5, which delivers program information
in french.

Ok, as soon as I have solved this, I will post it here.
At the moment, this is not first priority for me. My box stops the nxtvepg daemon
right before recording something and restarts it afterwards. The only problem is
watching TV, for which I prefer to use my TV set directly. (Perhaps this will
change...)

Kind regards,
Thorsten

[Freevo-users] Probs integrating XML TV

2004-01-30 Thread Oliver Welter
Hi,

I have a problem integrating xmltv listings into freevo...

My /tmp/TV.xml looks like this...

RTL

.

Nachtjournal
Mit Susanne Kronzucker

In my local_conf I have tried these variants for TV_CHANNELS:

('3', 'RTL.tvtoday.de', 'SE15')
('3', 'RTL', 'SE15')
('RTL.tvtoday.de', 'RTL', 'SE15')
Now I want to watch TV - I see the channels from TV_CHANNELS in my list
and can view them, but there is no programm data for these channels...

Another strange thing:
in the uper left corner of the channel schedule the date of "27. Jan" is
displayed, but under the schedule there is "1-Jan 0:00 - 4:41", my
system date is correct, so what Im doing wrong ??

Oliver

[Freevo-users] snapshot problems

2004-01-30 Thread Chris Graham
The first problem I am having its when i play mp3s the id3 information is
not being displayed. Any mp3 that was ripped using freevo will display the
id3 information but any other mp3 will just display the file name.

The second problem is there is an option to randomly play all items but when
i select it freevo just crashes.

Traceback (most recent call last):
 File "/usr/local/freevo/src/main.py", line 452, in ?

I also have one question. When i run ./freevo cache it says that Python
sqlite is not installed. I have installed sqlite and pysqlite and it still
says that. Is there any command that i need to add to the local_conf.py?

Thanx
Chris

Am I right in thinking you are trying to record as mpeg4?

try mpeg1 or 2 and transcode to mpeg4 / divx off line

I dunno. I was using directfb because that was the wisdom of the
ancestors passed down to me. I just tried mga and I get a blank screen
(though CPU usage seems roughly the same), so that's one reason. :)

I'm sure the mplayer folks would be able to answer this question.

[Freevo-users] Freevo on a Tivo?

2004-01-30 Thread Justin T Wetherell
I was wondering if anyone has tried to put a Freevo on the Tivo
hardware? I thought it ran linux and maybe the possibility exists, if
the hardware is standard. People have put Freevo on a Xbox, so why not a
old Tivo?

[Freevo-users] recordserver begin/end offset

2004-01-30 Thread alky
hi

without vps its pretty impossible to find an exact begintime because of commercials
etc and it
really sux if the end of a movie is missing.

is there a setting to configure the recordserver to start recording (for ex) 10
minutes earlier than
the actual begin time from xmltv is? (and record a few minutes afterwards too)

kind of RECORD_STARTOFFSET RECORD_ENDOFFSET

or where in the code would i have to work to implement something like this?

Have you tried width=384:height=288 or width=360:height=288 yet? I can imagine that
this is a little bit faster.

Have you tried mjpeg yet? This will produce bigger files, but with (IMHO) less CPU.
You could transcode them to mpeg4 afterwards.

I'm using V4L, and I can't reproduce your problem.
But searching on the nxtvepg homepage I found something:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1009667&forum_id=217872

This is written in german. I don't know if non-german tv-station also
broadcast a epg via cable which is usable for nxtvepg. But when it
is so (please give me feedback) I'll translate it and update the wiki.
Otherwise I'll only add the link to the wiki.

Use a faster codec, like MPEG1? The image quality at the same
bitrate isn't usually quite as good, but on the other hand you
ought to be able to get smooth video on a lower-end machine.

Alternately, have you considered one of the WinPVR cards?
Those do the encoding for you, so you just need to move data
around.

On my 80GB hard drive I have about anywhere between 70 and 100 episodes
of Seinfeld archived (because watching Soup Nazi on demand is why I
built my Freevo box).
I use up anywhere between 3 and 6 gb for regular everyday recordings
that are deleted daily. I have about 15GB free as of right now and I
record at 640x480 - plenty good enough to watch.

Hi,
Are you using any filter, during capture? Because that
seems like filters working on interlaced videos.
That's not ossible. However, you can separate the two
fields and treat them as a single image, and then
recompose the original interlaced frame. Tell me if
you want details.

i have it working with the ivtv latest driver release 0.1.9 and the M179
