[Freevo-users] PVR-250 tv help

2005-05-18 Thread Davin Desborough
I've used Freevo for quite a while, but I just now purchased a pvr-250
and am trying to get tv watching working... it's not going well. From
what I have read using a pvr-250 should just basically work, so perhaps
I'm doing something stupid. I am running FC3 and Freevo 1.5.3.

When I try try to view a channel from the tv guide, I get a black window
for a moment and then I return to the guide. If I manually run the
mplayer command I see:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# mplayer -vo x11, -fs -autosync 100 -nolirc -autoq 100
-screenw 800 -screenh 600 -fs -slave -nocache tv:// -tv
driver=v4l:freq=77.250:device=/dev/video0:input=0:norm=NTSC:width=640:height=480:outfmt=yuy2
MPlayer 1.0pre7-3.4.3 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel Celeron 2/Pentium III Coppermine,Geyserville (Family: 6,
Stepping: 6)Detected cache-line size is 32 bytes
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 0

Opening joystick device /dev/input/js0
Can't open joystick device /dev/input/js0 : No such file or directory
Can't init input joystick
Playing tv://.
TV detected! ;-)
No such driver: v4l
Exiting... (End of file)
I also tried v4l2 as the driver with the same result. xawtv does not
appear to wrok either.

In my xorg log I see:
(II) LoadModule: "v4l"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/linux/v4l_drv.o
(II) Module v4l: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
   compiled for 6.8.2, module version = 0.0.1
ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 0.7
and if I run v4l-conf I see:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]# v4l-conf
v4l-conf: using X11 display :0.0
dga: version 2.0
mode: 1024x768, depth=24, bpp=32, bpl=4096, base=0xe000
/dev/video0 [v4l2]: no overlay support
So it seems like I have vl4 loaded ok. If I run mplayer -vo xv
/dev/video0 mplayer will get video off the pvr 250, so the card is
functional. Basically I am stumped. Searching the mailing list and
google has failed to turn up anything I can identify as a solution.

Any ideas out there?
Many thanks,
Davin

Dishi,

did some switching between 0 and 1 :
It works in freevo2 , its just that it defaults to showing the title tag.
my tracks are track-tile so DIRECTORY_USE_MEDIAID_TAG_NAMES = 0 works
better for me.

Martijn.

Re: [Freevo-users] Re: Sorting Music?

2005-05-18 Thread jakbri
Slightly offtopic, but its good prctice to prepend your music files with the
track number, padded with zero's to 2 chars if needed. This keeps your
mp3's in
order in a pretty application agnostic way.

Quoting Karl Lattimer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
Would it not be possible for freevo 2.0 to also take a look at the path
to the current folder and search for albums with that folder name, the
reasoning for this would be that you could do a meta data search (as we
do for retrieving album covers) and create an m3u list for an album, as
in some albums its best to listen to them in their original order I
think adding this feature to sorting would be pretty cool.
Also it may be a good idea to add this data back into the mp3 track id3
tag, maybe even syncing the album art back onto the tracks. As I listen
to music on a number of devices including an ipod photo it would be
excellent if freevo could maintain id3 tags for files so other devices
can get the correct data.

This should be the default in 1.5.x. But for 2.0 we plan different
sort features for a directory (different for each dir): my title, by
track, by date and by filename.

It should work in both 1.5.x and 2.0. If it is not working in 2.0 I
guess there is a bug.

[Freevo-users] Addons Repository

2005-05-18 Thread Tom Van den Bon
Hi Guys,

Can anybody download any of the addons on the freevo website? I've tried
with IE and firefox and I can't get to the files. Is this just me or does
this happen with everybody ?

Thanks,
Tom

You can have as many as you want. But for 2 displays (monitor and tv),
is is a good idea to let freevo always run on tv and use the normal X
on the monitor.
