Re: [Freevo-users] freevo to play movies in full screen

2007-03-11 Thread Michel Hoogervorst

Hi,

Are you running Freevo on a framebuffer, or from X?
When running in a framebuffer, setting the display to sdl in
freevo.confmakes the mirracle happen :-)

Hi all,
My freevo is configure to start in full screen.
I have done the freevo setup
when I play movies the movies on the tv are not full screen and they are
over to left side of the screen in a small box.
the movies I am trying to play are in iso format.
I have this set in my local_config.py : VIDEO_PREFERED_PLAYER='mplayer'
Any suggestions on what to set to fix this?
I can play movies on the tv in full screen with mplayer, but not full
screen in freevo?
thank you

Use http://freevo.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/doc/TroubleShooting to get the
mplayer command line and post this.

[Freevo-users] mplayer arguements

2007-03-11 Thread Tom Weichmann
After an upgrade from SuSE 10.0 to 10.2, I have got some wierdness with
mplayer.

If I just do a 'mplayer /dev/video0'

I get pretty good video., but if I use freevo, it changes the 4:3 signal to
something that looks like 16:0 and skips a lot. Once I close sown freeo and
do a 'mplayer /dev/video0' again, the ourput looks like the freevo output,
16:9ish and choppy. Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks,

Hi,

Since upgrading to 1.7.0, Freevo doesn't show any album covers when
browsing/playing music.

When browsing music, I see this in main-500.log:
osd.py: Bitmap file "/home/michel/Muziek/sic-mdk.png " doesn't exist!

I guess this should be "music-mdk.png"? Looks like it chops off the first
two characters.
The file in the directory is called "front.jpg" though, so this doesn't make
any sense.

Any idea what is causing this?
I have the same problem both with my originel local_conf.py and a newly
created one off of the local_conf.py.exaple.

Just use the item's sub-menu and select delete info. Go to the video
item and press 'E' for Enter and from there you can delete it.

> To sum up, where are movie covers, and CD covers stored?

The cover can be stored in the cover.jpg, cover.png, etc file in a
directory.

They are stored in the cache's overlay directory, as a .raw file.

In the overlay directory there are another three files, freevo.cache,
metadata.cache, mmpython.cache which are in python's pickle format the
contents can be inspected with info from this page:
http://docs.python.org/lib/pickle-example.html

Re: [Freevo-users] Picture folders

2007-03-11 Thread Christian Lyra
thanks! It worked, but there´s a little bug. The parser discard the
first two letters of the icon file!
My .directory is like this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/tmp/new_freevo$ cat .directory
Name=New Freevo Pictures
Comment=fotos do freevo
Icon=logo.png

then I get this:
osd.py: Bitmap file "/tmp/new_freevo/go.png" doesn't exist!

if I changed to: Icon:lologo.png it works!

There is a .directory file that can be used for this. I'm not sure if it
has been fully implemented. If not then please raise a bug report.

eg:
# cat .directory
Name=My TV
Comment=TV Directory
Icon=logo.png

or

# cat .directory

Re: [Freevo-users] Amazon question

2007-03-11 Thread Dan Mancini
Hi,

Where does it put the covers? I have a cover that I searched, and now I
can't find it

Also the IMdb, same question. This works really cool, but if you select
the wrong movie picture, I can't find out where it was saved to delete
it.
To sum up, where are movie covers, and CD covers stored?

Thanks

[Freevo-users] Picture folders

2007-03-11 Thread Christian Lyra
Hi there,

Is there a way to change the default icon of a "folder" for picture
folders? I´d like to show a thumbnail of a picture for each picture
folder, like the ones you found on web image galeries.

I know i can create fxd slideshows with the same name of the folder,
but it´s not the same thing. With slideshows I cant enter the folder
and browse the thumbnails.

I feel a bit stupid, adding to the dvb section in MPLAYER_ARGS works
fine... :-O

OK, I will discribe the setup I use:
Using an dreambox for tv viewing with my smartcard in it wich streams
the cards info on local network to my freevo-box for recodings.
If someone of the freevo team sees a problem in it du too it's possible

MPLAYER_VO_DEV_OPTS, see freevo_conf.py or maybe there is something in
the wiki.

I don't think that this would be a problem, Linux is full of grey areas
that are generally okay for personal use.

I have a similar problem, 16x9 TV and a both nvidia and PVR-350 cards,
but have not found a satisfactory solution. mplayer seems to compress
the video vertically so the movie has black borders all round. The
quality looks good. IIRC the video signal should be compressed
horizontally. The "-monitoraspect 16:9" option to mplayer helps, but is
not good when a video is 16x9.

It seems that most people you have this working are using different
video cards (VIA, Matrox G400).

All I found when googling around what that the 16x9 is non-standard and
not really supported. mpeg files can have a field that says if a video
is 16x9 and TV uses the wss (wide screen signal) in the vbi data.

Hopefully someone knows a solution that doesn't require a TV with VGA input.

It may be that you need to remove the Twisted-2.5.0 package from
/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages/ or
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/ before installing Twisted-2.4.0.

> I use SuSE 10.2 and Python 2.5.

Should be okay but you would be better with Python 2.4 as there is a bug
fix in kaa.imlib2 which fixes a problem with Python 2.5. The recommended
version on Python and Twisted are both 2.4. I will in a future release
add support for 2.5 but not quite yet. (We don't use any 2.5 features)
