I quess that the vob do not have any subtitles and so kaa.metadata does
not have a subtitles key.

You can check with mminfo /path/to/file.

If this is the case then you need to raise a bug report.

Re: [Freevo-users] LinuxMCE - anyone tried this?

2007-03-27 Thread Evan Hisey
Last time looked LinuxMCE was based on MythTV. That particular setup
in the video was using some really oddball but cool hardware using the
x10 protocol stuff for home automation. Nice piece of advertising and
Linux propaganda though.

Somehow with easy tag, my wife and I have "improved" all our music...
We now have "unknown" on most of the songs.

How do I update to the SVN version? (I really need to now I guess)

You don't need it. Actually, I use kdm to boot freevo (as a window manager).
Yes, quite strange, but that was the first way that I managed to make it
work. And then, the KISS principle...

In my new attempt, I'll try to make things simpler, so I was wondering: do I
need X at all? Can I run everything in framebuffer? I think I should, as
that's how geexbox works, right? So mplayer/xine will work, but... what about
mame/fmsx/others? Will they work? Remember my video hardware is a radeon
9100igp, and there's no way to have 3d+tvout. So, if I want to run freevo in
framebuffer, what do I need?

As others have said, directfb is the way to go. Great video
quality. Possibility of true RGB TV output if you're willing to make
your own cable.

Note that getting things like zsnes and xmame working is somewhat
painful, requiring both source patches and fiddling with options to
get the required result.

Here's my config, if it's any use (G400 DH):

/etc/directfbtrc

  matrox-crtc2 # switch output to second head
  matrox-tv-standard=pal
  matrox-sgram  # Some G400s only.
  mode=720x576  # PAL video mode
  memcpy=MMXEXT # saves a bit of startup time for directfb
  primary-layer=02
  #matrox-cable-type=scart-composite # or scart-rgb, if you've built
 # your own cable...
  disable-module=ps2mouse# Disable various inputs: I use lirc
  mouse-source=/dev/input/mice # & the direct fb joystick inputs
  disable-module=linux_input # interfere with the SDL ones for zsnes
  disable-module=joystick# joystick reading.
  no-cursor
  agp=2
  dma
  videoram-limit=16384  # I have a 16Mb G400.
  no-vt-switch
  pixelformat=RGB32
  graphics-vt

/etc/freevo/boot_config

  FREEVO_HOME="/usr/local/freevo"
  FREEVO_LOG="/var/log/freevo/main.log"
  FREEVO="yes"
  WEBSERVER="no"
  RECORDSERVER="yes"
  HAVEMOUSE="no"
  HAVEKEYBOARD="no"
  SDL_VIDEODRIVER="directfb"

  cdparanoia = /usr/bin/cdparanoia
  display = dfbmga
  flac = /usr/bin/flac
  geometry = 768x576
  lame = /usr/bin/lame
  lsdvd = /usr/bin/lsdvd
  mencoder = /usr/bin/mencoder
  mplayer = /usr/bin/mplayer
  oggenc = /usr/bin/oggenc
  renice = /usr/bin/renice
  setterm = /usr/bin/setterm
  tv = pal
  tvtime = /usr/bin/tvtime
  version = 2.1

You'll need to set a few variables in freevo.conf: I use mplayer to
play video:

  MPLAYER_VO_DEV_OPTS = ':crtc2:fieldparity=top:tvnorm=auto'

And I start freevo at boot, so my /etc/init.d/freevo looks like this
(with symlinks to appropriate startup directories...):

#! /bin/sh

PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin
DAEMON=/usr/local/bin/freevo

Re: [Freevo-users] Music album covers aren't shown anymore in 1.7.0

2007-03-27 Thread Michel Hoogervorst

I think this is the default icon for this folder.
In Mandriva (with KDE), when I open my personal folder, folders like 'Music'
and 'Documents' have another color, with an icon in it, so I guess this is
the folder icon with a speaker.

See this for example:
http://images.pcworld.com/reviews/graphics/123555-homeFolders_b.jpg
(Just an image I found with google images, I didn't make this)

Current SVN supports Icon, Name and Comment. There is no Image key
specified. But kaa.metadata does not honor Hidden yet.
http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/latest/ar01s05.html

What is music-mdk.png? Is it dome sort of default? IMHO kaa.metadata
should honor icon settings in a .directory. The bug with the missing
first two characters is gone in current svn but kaa.metadata will
still use music-mdk.png. Is that what you want?
