[Freevo-users] Can not ALSA mixer volume from Freevo
Hi, I've just bought a new SB Audigy SE sound card and had to install new ALSA drivers version 1.0.11rc3. I can use alsamixer to control volume but when I try to control volume in Freevo only the osd (Volume: xx%) changes not the actual volume. I have DEV_MIXER set to /dev/mixer and ALSA is compiled with OSS emulation and with sequencer support. Anyone that have any idea on how to make this work? /Bjorn --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Do you grep through log files for problems? Stop! I don't know the difference but mplayer has an output device called dfbmga and my suggestion is yo use that. Try mplayer with -vo dfbmga, if that works and SDL is compiled with directfb support (check the printouts from configure) Freevo should also work with dfbmga, if thats entered in freevo.conf. /Jortan --- Peace Monk <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> skrev: > > > > On Sat, 21 Aug 2004 Josh Peck wrote : > >I'm running 1.4.1 (still) with directfb. Re: [Freevo-users] DirectFB with G450
Hi, I've got a G450 in my Freevobox running dfbmga. I remember a similar problem when I was using Freevo with the runtime-package. The problem is (when using runtime) that there is a libSDL-1.2.so.0 (or something) in freevo/runtime/dll. Replace that one with a symlink to your compiled version of SDL, that fixed it for me. [Freevo-users] Bootting into Freevo in Debian.
Hi, I'm running Freevo with frame buffer (no X) tv-out. I have a G450 and am using dfbmga. It is supposed to be a stand-alone freevo box. In order to boot into freevo I've created a script and a symlink to the script in /etc/rc5.d called S99freevo. The script looks like: lircd /etc/lircd.conf cd /usr/local/bin ./irexec /etc/freevo/lircrc & export USER=root export HOME=/root cd /usr/local/src/freevo-1.4-rc1 ./freevo Freevo boots fine and I can play mp3s, CDs, webradio but I can't play movie files nor can I use the CD backup plugin. I think you're donig this the wrong way. First rip the CD, then search for CD cover from the ripped cds' directory. I've just post the plugin to the list. For the moment only Dilbert comics are possible to grab but would be possible to extend. [Freevo-users] Dilbert plugin
Hi, I'm ready with my plugin and want to share it with you. I'm not a python programmer, so it might not be well written (exception handling for example). It's a plugin that grabs Dilbert strips from the web and stores them in a directory. Three menu items appears in image section if it is activated. There exist such variables, set OVERSCAN_X and OVERSCAN_Y in local_conf.py to some value. This will fix it for the GUI. Re: [Freevo-users] DirectFB + Matrox G450 = dfbmga = very complex!
Hi, I have gone through all the steps to get G450 and dfbmga working. It's hard to say what you have missed because you haven't described the steps you have done. But you have to 'export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=directfb' and I think you have to create a symlink somewhere in the Freevo structure to the SDL-lib (I'm not at my Freevo-box now and can't remember where the link was). You also need to run as root. The last thing I can remember that bugged me was to be sure that directfb is found when compiling SDL, look for 'checking directfb OK' or something. Re: [Freevo-users] Using Python 2.3
OK, I tried the apt-get command, but it resulted in the following output: Reading Package Lists... Building Dependency Tree... Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help to resolve the situation: Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies: task-freevo: Depends: python2.3-pygame but it is not going to be installed Depends: xmltv-util but it is not installable Depends: libxmltv-perl but it is not installable Depends: python2.3-xml but it is not installable Depends: python2.3-imaging but it is not installable Depends: mplayer Depends: python2.3-pylirc but it is not going to be installed Depends: python2.3-twisted but it is not installable Depends: python2.3-sqlite but it is not installable Depends: python2.3-mmpython but it is not going to be installed Depends: python2.3-fchksum but it is not going to be installed Depends: lame but it is not going to be installed E: Sorry, broken packages --- Aubin Paul <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> skrev: > > If you want to use CVS freevo, just use the Freevo > apt source, do an > 'apt-get install task-freevo' and it'll fetch all > the dependencies > that are in the runtime. > > Aubin > > > > --- > This SF.net email is sponsored by: VM Ware > With VMware you can run multiple operating systems > on a single machine. > WITHOUT REBOOTING! Re: [Freevo-users] Using Python 2.3
Thanks for the info. I'm running Debian and use the "full binary release" of Freevo. I read at the installation section in Freevo web page for Debian that "a binary of Freevo itself will not be available until the next major release of Freevo." is that still valid and what exactly does it mean for me? Re: [Freevo-users] Using Python 2.3
I will try more later when I get home. But I'm sure that I have /usr/bin/python symlinked to python2.3. I've written python scripts and can run them in python shell (or whatever it's called) and sys.version returns 2.3.0 but when I add sys.version to code runned by Freevo it says 2.2.2 (or something). I tried to remove the directory containing the python modules that came with Freevo binary release, but then Freevo did not start saying it couldn't find the modules. /Bjorn --- Aubin Paul <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> skrev: > Freevo will use whichever python is named > /usr/bin/python; so if you > symlink python2.3 to python then it'll work. Re: [Freevo-users] TV-out on G450
It works for me now! Freevo on the TV using dfbmga. Thanks for the help. I downloaded the CVS snapshot of SDL (Tue Jul 22), did an 'export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig' and then ./configure worked ('checking for DirectFB support yes' was there). Compiled SDL witout any trouble. Then did an 'export SDL_VIDEODRIVER=directfb' and after that Freevo started fine. I think that was all I had to do. OK, I've got mplayer and TV-out working with dfbmga!! I was a bit confused when following the HOWTO because it did not fit with the new version of directfb (0.9.19), named patches did not exist etc. I followed it as far as I could and as you wrote, Aubin, it was easier with the new versions than those described in the how-to. Thanks for the help. However, when I started Freevo, it stopped with the followin error: pygame.error: No available video device I'm using the following freevo.conf: chanlist = us-cable display = dfbmga geometry = 720x576 jpegtran = ./runtime/apps/jpegtran mplayer = /usr/local/bin/mplayer tv = pal tvtime = ./runtime/apps/tvtime/tvtime version = 2.0 When I configure SDL I get a message saying that pkg-config is missing and required to build DirectFB video driver. [Freevo-users] TV-out on G450
Hi! I've tried to get TV-out from my Matrox G450 32MB dualhead card but with no sucess. I get somethig on the TV but it is out of sync. I have followed the steps below and I might have missed something. I have enabled these in kernel : Processor type and features ---> [*] MTRR (Memory Type Range Register) support Console drivers ---> Frame-buffer support ---> Support for frame buffer devices (EXPERIMENTAL) (NEW) Matrox acceleration (EXPERIMENTAL) (NEW) G100/G200/G400/G450/G550 support (NEW) G450/G550 second head support (mandatory for G550) And entered this to enable TV-out: matroxset -f /dev/fb1 -m 0 matroxset -f /dev/fb0 -m 3 matroxset -f /dev/fb0 -o 1 1 The last command gives the error: ioctl failed: Invalid argument What does this mean? If I don't enter the last '1' it says: Output mode is 128 Then I have tried a number of different fbset settings but non of them with nice picture on the TV. Anyone with a PAL TV and G450 that can share his fbset values that works? Thanks in advance /Bjorn _ Gå före i kön och få din sajt värderad på nolltid med Yahoo! Re: [Freevo-users] Freevo 1.3.2 is out
Hi, Great job! I've been waiting for this, specially for web-radio. There was no binary release so I downloaded the source, compiled with make (no error) and tried to run. This is what I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "src/main.py", line 94, in ? import config File "src/config.py", line 77, in ? if not 'FREEVO_STARTDIR' in os.environ: File "/usr/lib/python2.1/UserDict.py", line 14, in __getitem__ def __getitem__(self, key): return self.data[key] KeyError: 0 Do I miss something in my system? Re: [Freevo-users] Frame buffer, TV-out and NVidia
This means that you do not need X to run freevo, which is good if you have a stand alone Freevo box. --- skeeterskip <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> skrev: > ohh > --- Wan Tat Chee <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > On Sun, 8 Jun 2003, skeeterskip wrote: > > > > > Everybody has been talking about framebuffer > mode > > for > > > sometime and I still do not know what it is. > > > > If you're running under framebuffer mode, you get > a > > nice penguin > > on the top left of your screen during the bootup > > sequence. I tried and the linux startup text showed up on the TV. Until entering frame buffer mode when the screen blanked out. I understand that I have to use fbset to set frame buffer geometry and timings. Does anyone know how to set this for a PAL TV? [Freevo-users] Frame buffer, TV-out and NVidia
Hi, I really like this project, you've done a great job! I'm wondering if it is possible to use an NVidia Geforce graphics card in frame buffer mode (without X) with TV-out. As far as I have read I understand that I have to use X to get TV-out, is that correct? If it is possible, how do I configure TV-out in frame buffer mode?
