I'm not a Freevo or python developer so I don't honestly know what those files are for. I copied all 6 files from my distro's RPM file into the Freevo plugins directory. Then I activated the plugin in my config file and it worked wonderfully. When I copied the files into a self-created "appletrailers" directory within the plugins directory, Freevo crash as others have said. [Freevo-users] Idlebar Clock and Freevo 1.6
Freevo added the idlebar as a default in version 1.6. I think this is a step in the right direction. Features like this make Freevo more attractive out of the box. Freevo seems to be defaulting to 24 hour time. I looked for the config option and set it to 12 hour. Now the 12 hour time overwrites the 24 hour time. Any suggestions on how to correct this? - Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security? Looking at my config file, I do have the idlebar.weather plugin commented out. The one I am currently using allows for multiple locations: plugin.activate ( 'weather', level=45) When I say "flaky", I mean the plugin can't always pull the weather data successfully. Once there is a hiccup, the location is removed from the list of possible weather locations (until the next data pull). [Freevo-users] Minor issues with Freevo
I have been using Freevo for a few months now and its working very well. It also has the wife's approval and smile. I do have a couple of minor annoyances that I can't seem to tackle. 1. My default player is mplayer. When I play videos, particularly widescreen, I get a bright blue line on the left and top border. The video plays fine with the exception of the line. Using 800x600 NTSC with x11 display and GeForce2 MX (soon to be GeForce4). 2. When mplayer is exited, it goes back to Freevo menu system with the gnome panel on top at the bottom. After a second or so, Freevo refreshes and draws focus over top the panel. Should I just kill the panel functionality for the "Freevo" user? 3. Using a Packard Bell POS remote control. Works great about 75% of the time. Randomly, it fails to work with Freevo. I have an IR-RF transmitter that blinks to let me know its sending the signal. Nothing happens though with Freevo. After a random interval of time, it just works again. Rebooting the system also helps. System specs are as follows: kernel: 2.6.8-1.521smp lirc: lirc-0.7.0-42.rhfc2.at pylirc: pylirc-0.0.4-1_fc2 I tried checking in /var/log/messages and in the Freevo logs. I didn't see any error messages or warnings. Thanks, Kevin --- The SF.Net email is sponsored by: Beat the post-holiday blues Get a FREE limited edition SourceForge.net t-shirt from ThinkGeek. I was able to manually grab most of the RPMS from Dag Wieers' repository located at: http://dag.wieers.com/packages/ If I remember correctly, there may have been one provided on the FC2 CDs. However, the main problem that I am having is that the Freevo package doesn't recognize that mmpython is installed. * Can't find all Python dependencies: No module named mmpython * Here is the version that I currently have installed: [EMAIL PROTECTED] kevin]$ rpm -qa | grep mmpython mmpython-0.4.2-4.rhfc1.at Thanks, Kevin On Thu, 2004-06-03 at 16:31, Nicholas Ruddick wrote: > I'm having problems installing the rpms, some of them are coming up with > errors - > > python-twisted-1.3.0-1_fc2.i386.rpm: not an rpm package (or package > manifest): > > this is the same with mmpythin, lsdvd, freevo-core, freevo-recording and > maybe some others. > > What should I do? > > Nicholas Ruddick > > Wan Tat Chee wrote: > > >RPMs for Freevo 1.5-rc2 on Fedora Core 2 and relevant dependencies (e.g., > >mmpython 0.4.2) are available from the freevo website. > >(Note: the FC2 freevo packages have *rc2_fc2.*rpm suffixes) > > > >Please see > > http://freevo.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/FedoraInstallation > >for more details. > > > >Please note that this version of mmpython 0.4.2 is not able to decode all > >DVD discs, the next release of mmpython is supposed to fix this problem. > >(Otherwise, download from mmpython CVS and build the package yourself). > > > >Future releases of freevo RPMs would be based on Fedora Core 2 since > >python 2.3 will become a requirement in the 1.5 series. > > > >T.C. > > > >Wan Tat Chee (Lecturer) > >School of Computer Science, Univ. of Science Malaysia, > >11800 USM, Penang, Malaysia. [Freevo-users] RE: Automatically enter a directory?
Been lurking on Gmane... finally delurking... I basically have the same configuration as Chad does. I store pretty much all of my media in central mount point. My basic directory structure is /mntpoint/Music/ArtistA /mntpoint/Music/ArtistB /mntpoint/Movies/MovieA /mntpoint/Movies/MovieB /mntpoint/Pictures/AlbumA /mntpoint/Pictures/AlbumB As with Chad, I add the '/mntpoint/Movies' or '/mntpoint/Music' to my config file and it does require a second click to view the artists, movies or whatever. Freevo is great and keep up the good work. I really am enjoying the progress that it has made. Thanks, Kevin * * Message cut from previous message * * I have my pictures and music stored on a server. There are many subdirectories for each, of course, but all files are contained in one master directory for each type of item (pictures and music, respectively). Is there any way I can get Freevo to automatically enter the selected directory? As it stands now, there are two steps to get to each type of item - select "Listen to Music", for instance, then select Music again. This is the only directory that will ever be in this menu so I'd like to avoid the second click if I could. I know I can list each subdirectory separately, but as I take more pictures and collect more music the subdirectory list changes. I don't want to have to update local_config.py every time I create or rename one of the subdirectories. Any thoughts? Thanks, Chad --- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now.
