[Freevo-users] question about encoding.

2004-11-04 Thread wes robbins
Does anyone know where I could find information about
why on certain TVcapture cards we need to use the
line-in / line-out to the soundcard? Why can't you
just collect the audio output from the tv card it's self?

Re: [Freevo-users] Buying a TV out card

2004-07-19 Thread wes robbins
I happened to still have an old DRX3 card. I had for
my original DVD player. I find it the best TV-out unit
for S-Video I've found. I have output of the freevo on
a tv in a different room. Works flawlessly.

Now, I read last week about the DeltaChrome S4 video
card it is supposed to have native Linux drivers and
supports HD 1080I resolution for TV-out. I was
wondering if anyone else has looked at this card as a
end all choice for the HD / Freevo crowd?

[Freevo-users] Problem With playing with the configuration.

2004-06-19 Thread wes robbins
I switched out Caspture cards and now instead of /dev/video I'm /dev/video0  So, I went into the local_config.py and uncommented out the TV_VIDEOSOURCE or what ever it is.  Watch TV now works but when record shows it is pulling the old setting.

How do I reload the settings so recording will know the right configuration.  I also noticed when I was tweaking the tv channels the webserver would read the old settings to.

Re: [Freevo-users] tw_grab_na_dd problem...

2004-05-24 Thread wes robbins
Ok, this is what I did and what did minor problems I
hit.

the .33 version of XMLTV installed to a diferent
directory than previous versions. So I had to search
for all the old xmltv libs and replace the the old
with the new ones.

After executing the command freevo tv_grab , the
command would never finish and tv_sort would not run
either. I did modify the local_config.py to use the
new _dd version.

The standard grabber for getting the channel ID's does
not work on the new version of the TV.xml.The channels
do not match the id's.

I just went and manually got each ID out of the file.

To get the new ID's to be read by the webserver part
of freevo I had to reboot. Restarting the webserver
and record server did not work.

I run the tv_grab_na_dd and tv_sort manually now.
Do to freevo tv_grab command never finishing.

If anyone wants more detial just ask.

[Freevo-users] Quality still sucks.

2004-04-12 Thread wes robbins
I upgraded my computer to a 1200 mhz AMD and added
higher resolutions settings in Local_config.py
(640x480). Rebooted the machine and the quality is
still horrible.
Does anyone have some tips for me. I'd like to still
get some compression and get a really nice videos for
the shows I want to save.

[Freevo-users] 1.5.0 thanks.

2004-03-25 Thread wes robbins

I ran an apt-get update and upgrade and got the new system.
Took me 20 minutes to convert over. and the only problem I had was
I got into a habit of typing freevo a;sdlfjk to see the listing of commands.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/rec$ freevo asdfcan't find helper asdf
is what I get.
Anyways, great job.  I'm loving the speed improvements and how easy it was to upgrades.  Thanks to all.

[Freevo-users] longer recording times.

2004-03-23 Thread wes robbins
I'm having issues of missing the last few minutes of my recordings.  I figure this is a common issue. how do we extend the time? I was thinnking of editing the mencoder line and putting + 180 on the + 'endop $(seconds), + 180' line.Do you Yahoo!?

[Freevo-users] looking for a good script. video editting script

2004-02-23 Thread wes robbins
I was wondering if anyone has some good examples they would like to share with me.

First, I'm looking for a way to remove comercials from a video capture I did with freevo.
What i was thinking was I would mplayer a video write down the start and stop comercials.  Then enter them into script and mencoder would record some how around commsercial.  If any of you has done this,  please share with a noob like me.

Second, I'm wondering what people are using for there mencoder settings my quality is not as good as I would like with the default setting. I'm both looking for a high quality setting and a one to minimize file size.  I'll probably minimize the file size when I remove the commercials

[Freevo-users] more questions on TV-out

2004-02-14 Thread wes robbins
Looking at the instructions for the matrox 450,
I'm kinda nevous with that it is not up-to-date
with the knoppix kernel level.

I would be using NTSC. I would really love some
suggestions.

Or where to find a howto. I've never gotten
TV-out under linux working. And under windows
it always looks horrible. Except for the matrox
DVDmax.

I have the following cards
  matrox 450
  matrox 400 (penting)
  voodoo 2000
  voodoo 3000
  voodoo 3500
  ati 128 all-in-wonder

I want my computer to poweron to tv-out / freevo
I may do stuff with ssh or webserving.

Thank you,

Wesr

[Freevo-users] matrox 450 or 400.

2004-02-13 Thread wes robbins
I was offered by a friend that he would trade me his
400 for my 450. I was wondering if that would be a
good idea. For tv viewing on a slower machine. what
video card would be best?
