Re: [Freevo-users] Freevo and HVR-950?

2007-10-10 Thread Pirlouwi
I can be wrong, but I think that the live-pause plugin written by Adam
Charrett is compatible with DVB-T and ATSC.
Just have a look at the Freevo wiki
herehttp://doc.freevo.org/TvPlugins#head-d2fe093c7fc46de55582138af1ff5be8e0669868.
It is greatly better than using the basic generic record plugin.
I don't think that the fact that this board is using an experimental V4l dvb
driver has any influence on Freevo. Any working dvb-t or atsc layer should
be compatible with the DVBStreamer application.
HTH,
Pirlouwi.

suit any other distro. As for configuring for Freevo,
 you'll need the tv.generic.record plug-in, as this
Hauppauge uses an experimental V4l dvb driver for an
Empia chipset, not ivtv. For channel selection, I
think Freevo can get the DTV (ATSC) channels, but I'm
not sure if it can tune to the
 DTV-non-hd-sub-channels, like 53.2, 53.3, etc. Here's
 the link to that page

Thanks, Phil,

I've been pretty much living by that lunapark6.com web page. The tuner
itself seems to work, though the downside is that the experimental
drivers completely broke my PVR-USB2 external tuner when I installed them...

It really is this last little detail about channel selection in Freevo
that I am wondering about. So as it currently stands, Freevo has no
concept of channels with major and minor components? I have been able
to use the scan application from dvb-utils to get some valid channels
with their associated PIDs, I just don't know how to put that
information in a channel list or feed it through to a relevant tv plugin.

Thanks again,

 there a knowledge
base somewhere for this? How would one go about

I'll take a look at the dvbstreamer plugin and see if it gives me any
hints. I presume that it's in svn, since I can't find it anywhere in
the 1.7.x tree?

No, I don't think it is in Freevo sources up to now.
But in the wiki page I gave to you, you have links to download the plugin
and the daemon, and hints to install both utilities.

Duncan will be adding it to svn over the next few days. Adam has
mentioned that it needs at least 512MB of RAM.
