Yes,

Between 1.6.0 and 1.7.4 yes.

The data was being pulled from www.msnbc.com but it did go down and then
was moved to www.tpfans.com but this seems to have gone down too. May be
www.msnbc.com is available to you, in which case move line 326 to 328.

If you can find another server that is providing the feed data as a
visual basic object.

Duncan

PS you can search through the plug-in for another weather plug-in
freevo plugins -l | grep -i weather
But keep this one under your hat.

Duncan-
  I can confirm that there is something off with the weather plugin in
1.7.4. Plugin is pulling data fine from the server on my older 1.6.2
install but is just giving a big '?' on 1.7.4. Was there a code change
in the plugin? The description of the plugin says the same
plugin.activation string from 1.6.2 should work for 1.7.4

There is an old thread in the list with this issue (search for 'weather

Did you download from the SVN originally or from a packaged source?

If you used:

svn co svn://svn.freevo.org/freevo/branches/rel-1 freevo-1.x

then "svn update" in the freevo-1.x directory should work.

Found a dataurl that works and it is now in svn

The tuple can have a fourth argument

('location', si-units, 'language', 'name')

I agree that the url has changed but this is not the correct location.
The url should return something like:
function makeWeatherObj() {

 this.swCity = "Zurich";
 this.swSubDiv = "";
 this.swCountry = "Switzerland";
 this.swRegion = "West Europe";
 this.swTemp = "52";
 this.swTempCel = Math.round((5/9)*(this.swTemp-32));
 this.swCIcon = "27";
 this.swWindS = "6";
 this.swWindD = "N";
 this.swBaro = "29.94";
 this.swHumid = "54";
 this.swReal = "52";
 this.swUV = "0";
 this.swVis = "6.21";
 this.swLastUp = "03/28/2007 12:50:00";
 this.swConText = "Mostly Cloudy";
 this.swFore =
"5|6|7|1|2|03/29/2007|03/30/2007|03/31/2007|04/01/2007|04/02/2007|11|39|11|30|32|14|19|13|4|24|59|55|58|64|65|60|40|60|20|10|29|11|27|29|31|4|13|3|4|11|35|34|34|39|40|";

 this.swAcid = "SZXX0033";
}

It is this data that is then parsed for the weather information.

If the correct link can be found then self.dataurl in plugins/weather.py
needs to be changed.

Having done a quick google I've not found a suitable link yet.

I had modified the permissions of the weather directories using chmod -R 777

Believe I did it permanently from within /etc/rc.d/rc.local

Re: [Freevo-users] weather plugin hangs for non-root users

2005-08-18 Thread Andrej van der Zee
Hi,

It seems to me the weather plugin has a bug. It
creates read only files in the directories
/var/cache/freevo/weather/data belonging to the
user. If you login as another user and want to update
the weather Freevo will hang as it attempts to update
the file. You have to manually set the permissions of
the files to make it work again.

Greets,

Andrej

Re: [Freevo-users] Weather plugin for international users :)

Niklas Brunlid wrote:

I've tried to use the weather plugin, but it doesn't accept the number I
need to use to gather my weather data (Lund Institute of Technology, Lund,
Sweden). It seems like it only accepts a four-character code, but many
stations instead use a five-digit number...
I'm an international user too (in Denmark) and I have the weather plugin
running fine :-)

It seems the weather data are only available at
http://weather.noaa.gov/pub/data/observations/metar/decoded/.TXT
for stations with a four letter code.

The four letter codes are often at places near an airport so try using
another place like e.g Malmo/Sturup with the 4 letter code 'ESMS' or
anything else closer to where you live.
