The TurtleArt activity (Logo) is also the kind of thing you wouldn't get
with a commercial package.
It's got dockable blocks for programming primitives, and the shapes only
fit together if the logic makes sense. Fairly approachable..

I received an OLPC a few days ago (Give1Get1).

some hardware information. I find the OLPC not so easy to use, but to
their credit, they put a "Pippy" program (snake) icon in there, which is
a nice little interface to Python, which hopefully will be incentive for
some recipients to learn to program with Python.

Same day I got the thing I got a message from them apologizing that they

being in their thoughts, the ETA they think they have may or may not

I received one on Friday afternoon. I am incredibly impressed with
the computer and the software -- I can't wait to see what these
computers do when they meet each other, this computer is
revolutionary in the sense that it has been built with mesh-
networking as a basic assumption (at least that is the promise).

I'm so impressed, I have even started my first blog just so that I
could blog about my experiences with the XO.

It's also relatively easy to build it from source but the documentation
on that process is sketchy. But neither with the qmeu images or such a
build did I find a way to get TamTam sound to work. I tried VirtualBox
and vmware for the former, Fedora 8 / x86_64 for the latter.

Is that a WPA router? If so there looks like there may be progress

I have mine.

I have not been able to connect to my home WiFi net because, according to
the OLPC website, the software does not yet allow connections to a WAP
router. Can that be fixed?

Second, is there any Linux software that would turn the device into a touch
screen/handwriting recognition tablet?
