Re: Totally OT - RE listmember's woodworking
Yep, it's good stuff... I checked it out yesterday. Recommendation for him though: use JPGs instead of GIFs for your web pictures, so we can see the true beauty of your work, not just in 256 colors. I sure like those cherry bookshelves! Paige on 7/18/01 1:50 AM, dog b at [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Check out the quality of this listmember's woodworking. Re: Mac.com errors
No, but I notice the Apple servers have been kind of finicky the past few days for some reason... iTools was down for maintenance 2 days ago. I'm sure it was just a temporary outage. I've received the below message several times with my @home account, since my server seems to go down for a few minutes about once every month or two. Paige on 7/18/01 3:27 AM, Richard J. Sometimes for 2 days at a time. The reason I noticed this was that my AOHell account was changing the character set to something like UTF(???), which most lists can not read at the same time. Re: Wallstreet upgrade from Sonnet

Small Dog has the Blue Chip 466 mhz upgrade for $249 during MacWorld NY and the 500mhz upgrade for $579. Yeah I knew that but I'm a big fan of Sonnet (have one in a 7100 8100 and did a PB1400 which I've sold). Besides, at $399 it's $180 less than PowerLogix and seeing as I'm poor, I can wait for the release. I know a fellow (a Mac tech) who had the 466MHz PowerLogix and while he said it was faster he didn't see a huge leap over his 233MHz Wallstreet. Plus he said that it wouldn't support over 256MB RAM. He actually had to remove memory to get it to work. Poor guy had to sell it and buy a PowerBook G4 (tiny violins). I would guess PowerLogix will come down when Sonnet releases though. -makmac -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: Slightly OT: Office 2001 Upgrade

I thought about e-mailing Microsoft to ask, but figured I'd pose the question here first. I tried using Appleworks for a while there too, but I don't care what anybody says, it's just inferior to Word in particular, and the converters don't always work. Agreed. It's good for what it is, but for heavy-duty stuff it just doesn't fit the bill. Since I'm sharing a lot of work with MS Word owners, it's very tedious to have the document converted each time and then lose most of the formatting when it opens in AppleWorks. Plus, I've been hearing how good Word 2001 is on the Mac (some people claim better then the PC version), so I need to try it for myself. Paige -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
