Pismo three beeps?

2004-11-20 Thread Scott Howe
Hi folks-

I have a friends Pismo here that will not start up. All it does is do the
three beep thing then just sits there with the power on. I have to yank the
battery to power off. I've swapped the RAM out for RAM that I know works in
my Wallstreet and I get the same thing. The RAM that was in the Pismo works
fine in the Wallstreet.

So what other issues should I be investigating other than RAM? I'm quite
sure the PRAM battery is dead. Could that be causing the beeps?

Thanks!

Weird sound out of my Albook

2004-11-20 Thread Bryan Forbes
Hi:
I've got an 15 Aluminum Powerbook running 10.3.6. For the past few
days I have a tinging ping noise coming out of it about every couple
of hours or so. I can't figure out if it's coming from the OS itself
or some application.

There is no rhyme or reason why this noise shows up every couple of
hours or so ... any suggestions or experience with why this is taking
place would be greatly appreciated.

According to this http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58183
reference, the 3 beeps indicate a ram failure. The fact that the Pismo
ram
works in a Wallstreet but not vice versa is not conclusive, since the
Wallstreet runs at a slower bus speed than the Pismo (66 MHz vs. 100
MHz).

Wallstreet not seeing Keyspan USBCard

2004-11-20 Thread Hubert Phillips II
I have run into a problem with my Wallstreet. Running OS 9.2.2 with
the USB extensions installed and decided to try the Keyspan USB Card.
When I boot up with the card in the slot, the PB hangs after it gets to
the desktop and all the icons (HD and USB Card) show up.
Take the card out and it boots and runs fine. Any idea what the
problem might be? Oh, it hangs if I load the card after successful
boot up too.

I have tried contacting Keyspan, but they never answer my questions.
Thanks,

Problem with powerbook g3 Wallstreet

2004-11-20 Thread Katherine Zysk
I have a Wallstreet 266
I installed a new DC card last week
And then I installed 10.2 working fine until the next day.

Now it will not start all the way

I power up
It looks like 9.2 is going to start but after a short time the screen goes
black and then the grey apple.
After a short time I get the disallowed symbol

I have tried to start from CD, same thing (it will not start from CD)
I have tried to start from 8 floppy, it tells me that I need to update disk
to use on this computer.

I have tried every key combo that I can think of to try to repair this.

Is there a key combo that will let me reset the NVRam?
Firmware?
Is there some other way to start this computer?
Is there a limit on 10.2 on Wallstreet hardware?
Is there a way to reformat this HD and start from scratch when I can not get
in?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Kathiz

Like I said I have tried everything, the Wallstreet combo for reset is shift
fn ctrl and power.

But is still goes through the same start-up and then disallowed.
