Re: Can anybody help?

2005-09-11 Thread MarJo

I have to go through quite a few messages as they've
stacked up in my mailbox. A subject line like Can
Anybody Help? doesn't give a clue. Usually, when I
see something like that I just delete it and continue
looking for something that ties in with what I know or
need to know.

Just a little rant against non-descriptive subject
lines! How about it? Just a little clue as to what
you need help for!

a good reminder... Always try to give a clue what is unique/descriptive
about you are asking about.

Examples of non descriptive Subjects:

help
not working
argh
something went wrong
confused

like most folks I do a visual keyword scan of Subject lines Words like
tiger or airport or such that connect to things I have experience with
tend to get read.

Just add to the subject line a bit of a description of the problem
without going into detail, as with:

help

setting up network --or--

mouse

not working

--or--

argh

(don't /even/ use this)

something went wrong

with my SuperDrive --or--

confused

about Pismo memory requirements

like most folks I do a visual keyword scan of Subject lines

BTW, threading makes this even more difficult!

TjL

Also, if you're going to start a new thread (or one suggested by an
already existing one) /change/ the subject line or add, (whatever the
new subject is) was: (old or related thread subject).

Sorry. End of rant.

iBook clamshell modem?

2005-09-11 Thread Andrew Main
From photos I've seen, the modem in the clamshell iBook appears to be
the same as the modem in the Lombard and Pismo PowerBooks? Anyone know
for sure?

Re: chill hub experience

2005-09-11 Thread jocbr8

Hi,
I tried out the CHill Hub I bought last week. When I plugged in my
travel drive and my zip drive, the icons never appeared on the iBook
screen. When I have a moment, I will go on their webpage and see if
there are any instructions for MAC. If not, i'll just take it back and
buy a regular usb hub.
