Tiger install fails on Pismo??
Hello, I have two 512 mb ram modules in my Pismo= 1 gb and they are recognised fine in OS9.22. However, I can't install Tiger in a drive partitioned into two. There is OS 9.22 on the second partition of 8 gb and a 32 gb space for OS10.4 on the first. While the Tiger installation proceeds to the end, when trying to start up it always shows the Prohibatory sign and the circle keeps turning. Might this be due to the ram, or some other Pismo factor? -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: Tiger install fails on Pismo??
First why the 8gb partition?? The pismo does not need it! Just install the os over the 9.2 on the second partition and then use the first 8 gb for extra storage, or just start again and format the full drive in one. Second i would try with just one of the ram chips in because tiger (in my opinion ) is alot more fussy about the type and speed of the ram that you use Than panther was. To get trouble free use i had to upgrade with a pair of crucial 512mb chips in my pismo, and just to be on the safe side i used the same ram when i upgraded the book to a G4 Ti cost me a fortune but it is worth it just for the trouble free use. vicki On Dec 13, 2005, at 11:25 AM, kaldav wrote: Hello, I have two 512 mb ram modules in my Pismo= 1 gb and they are recognised fine in OS9.22. Thanks to everybody who gave me suggestions when I had difficulty emplementing encryption to connect my powerbook with a Netgear router. The answer was simple (as usual) when I found it: I had not checked Allow station to broadcast its name (SSID). Activate/Deactivate Debug Menu in Safari (was Re: Safari problem ?)
Critical correction: There should be a space before the digits 1 and 0 in order to activate/deactivate the Debug menu in Safari through the Terminal. To activate, quit Safari, go to Terminal and type this command, then hit Return to activate: defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1 To deactivate, quit Safari, go to Terminal and type this command, then hit Return to deactivate Debug: defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 0 Hope this helps. Jim Scott On Dec 12, 2005, at 10:45 PM, David Harris wrote: Hi Amber: I've noticed that Safari support has improved overall. But there are times when it just doesn't get the results that I need. Much of it has to do with the designs of the web pages, which may or may not have an effect upon what you are trying to do. However, Apple has an interest gem in the Debug menu. Quit Safari and open Terminal (Library Application Support) and type in the following: defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu1 and press return. Relaunching Safari gives you a new menu choice, Debug. It has a plethora of cool functions. Select in the Debug menu User Agent, and you can choose from a list of browsers, which includes Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 (MSIE). Keep in mind that you are not using MSIE, but allowing Safari to receive certain information that would only be exchanged if the web browser identifies itself as MSIE. If you implement this option, it may prove two things. If it does work when Safari identifies itself as another browser, it will prove that eBay's web design is not too Mac friendly. If it doesn't work, then Safari may need some modifications that may come in the future or you should consider not checking the box to keep you logged in. If you change your mind about the Debug menu, quit Safari, open Terminal and type the following: defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu0 and press return. Relaunch Safari, and the Debug menu should be gone. Good luck. dmjh -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
