Re: G-Books Google List

2006-02-17 Thread Cliff Rediger

It does seem improper to "cull e-mail addresses" for mass messages.
One thing about the MacLaunch system that seems to work better for me
is the easy opportunity to reply to digest entries from Eudora
without going to my browser

and the easy opportunity to respond off list.
These do not seem real options in the Google list.
Or am I missing it?

Hello everyone. Twice, I have received personal email (blasted to
individuals signed up for the google group I think) about issues with
the google groups list.

List nannies - get your act together - some people seem to be having
trouble signing up and once signed up they have no clue as to how to
unsubscribe.

I had to figure it out myself, since we are given very little
instruction.

I wanted to use the same email as on the maclaunch server so I used
the email signup option (send an email to: g-books-
[EMAIL PROTECTED]). That worked fine, except that when I
went to the google group page:

http://groups.google.com/group/g-books
I was told I was not a member. So, I scratched my head and sent a
message about this to the list (maclaunch), but got no useful response.

The light bulb went off and I realized that I had to "sign in" online
to get into the google group (even though I was already
"subscribed!!!" - got the confirmation email), so I created an
account (duh!). All is well now.

BUT I would like that people not cull our individual email
addresses for their own uses!!!

I bought a firewire/usb ports external case at CompUSA for $39 or so.
A Maxtor internal IDE CD-R 52x52x32 , at Staples (on sale)39 to 49
bucks. There are internal DVD burners also on sale at Staples, Compusa,
Sam Club, etc. Keep an eye out for sales. Put either the CD-R or DVD or
HD in the case to make a wonderful firewire external CD burner, DVD
burner or HD. I also bought a 2.5 profile 40GB HD and an 2.5 usb
external case
(for my G3 pismo) both at Compusa for a small profile external HD. Try
www.headgap.com for any
equipment and mac needs. They are one of the best places for deals also.

RAM Utility ?

2005-08-26 Thread Cliff Rediger

Using Tiger on a Mini with 500 Ram
Trying to find that little utility that tells you how much memory
all your open programs are running. As I'm getting one of those "not
enough RAM" dialogs in PhotoShop Classic.

Thanks.

Anyone experience this type of problem? If so, how did you fix it?
I had this exact problem after the update to 10.3.2. I turned off IPv6 in
the network panel and rebooted. Problem gone. With OS 9 I'm not sure how
this is related, but there you go.
I think I'm jumping into this thread midstream.
but the modem is not recognized in my Walstreet either (also running 9.1)
Previous questions prompted suggestions that the modem card may have
become dislodged.
I have yet to open and check.

Mikael, where it the "network panel" to which you refer?

Re: s-video out on my wallstreet

2005-04-24 Thread Cliff Rediger
Dave,
A couple of things that worked for me.
1. Make sure that you have no other AV input connections active.
At least RCA jacks. I can leave my coaxial cable connected but not
the RCA jacks.

2. I think there is a proper sequence for turning on, but since the
S-Video is hot swappable what works for me is plugging in after the
TV and Wallstreet are on..

3. Still, nothing will happen until you open the Open Monitor Control
Panel (on the Control Strip) and select one of the other options
there. I say one of the other options because I don't have mine
hooked up and those "other" options do not appear. But it should be
come obvious and you can play around. You pick various screen
resolutions etc.

Hey there all...
I dunno if this has been covered a million times or not, but I can't seem to
get anything out of my S-video plug. I have a WSII/300/192mb RAM (with the
big screen). I'm running 10.2.8 primarily (with 9.2, too).
Can't get anything using either OS9 or OSX. Don't know if or where there's
an option to make it active or not.
In a somewhat related subject, the VGA out only works on OS9. Any way to
make it active with OSX?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Use S-video out

2005-04-18 Thread Cliff Rediger
Steen,
My Wallstreet has S-Video out.
You need an S-Video cable and
an S-Video external appliance such as TV.
I found that it was a little fussy about the sync between TV on and
booting etc.
But, in the end since the S-Video port is hotswappable
I found that TV on, computer booted, then plug both ends in works.
Make sure other input connections on the TV are disoconnected.
Then select the Open Montor's Control Panel
and play with the settings.
voila, the TV is your monitor
