Re: mac spyware
lots of peecee software is laden with myriad spywares. it's rather disgusting. it embeds itself in your system files, makes itself virtually impossible to delete, and sends joe-random-company details about your internet browsing habits, among other things. a great example of spyware is Kazaa, and very few people realize all of this information is being collected and sold by Kazaa. that said... i'm completely unaware of any spyware on the mac. Re: Insurance Coverage on BeerBooks et al
No offense, but you feel it OK to ask your insurance company to pay for something like that? That seems a bit like theft to me. Can some other homeowners chime in and tell me that this is the norm? If I dropped my TiBook I would not look for a loophole of coverage...since it was my mistake and I dropped it. Even if my home was being broken into, I could still manage to set my laptop down before grabbing my 9mm and going on to investigate. Now if my home caught on fire while I was away and burned up my laptop...well that would be a different thing. Obi-Wan With all due respect , not all of us have (or want) a 9mm around in case of such emergencies. In the case of such kind of intrusion, one does what one has to do. We all are different, as are our responses in this respect. What was done, in this case, was both herioc and resulted in the capture of the criminal, WITHOUT any undue harm or loss of life. The MacAlly USB/FW card in my beige G3 works using Apple drivers in both OS 9.1 and OS X. Thanks. I don't know about OSX, but I DO know that the Firewire2Go card (because it is not of the newest technology and not OHCI compliant) does not work with some things. In my case it will not allow my Wallstreet II to use my VST and Maxtor firewire drives. That's all I know. Gene -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
