OS 10.3.9 help!
When I boot up, my screen slows when things usually start appearing on the desktop. Like the items will very s l o w l y appear, then sits there a few minutes B4 the hard drive icons ever appear. Once everything shows up, it runs ok, slowish but ok. I Fixed permissions then ran Norton. Norton found problems, but wanted me to startup w/the Cd. I have tried tried to startup with a norton cd have done so in the past. But now can't. I have tried holding down the C key the Control, Option/alt, delete way. ANY help is greatly appreciated! I wouldn't have thought about the Hard Drive being the issue, since when I book into OS 9.1 (on a partition of the same Hard drive seems ok)But it did have it's own troubles a while back... hummm anyway, someone on a Quark list mentioned this handy little program: MacJanitor case you're facing some obscure system maintenance glitch. using external monitor with a pismo.
Can anyone tell me how to be able to use an external monitor with my Pismo? I hooked up a 19 to my Pismo it was like an extension of my Pismo monitor. So when I looked under the monitor setup/controls it puts the external monitor above or below my Pismo monitor. Not what I want. I want to view as if I'm looking at the Pismo. farallon iPrint on Pismo OS 10.3.4 laserWriter4/600
Can anyone tell me if I'm running OS 10.3.4 (also 9.2.1) hooked up a Farallon iPrint so I could still use my trusty apple LaserWriter 4/600ps with OS X. My question is, I hooked up the iprint part to my printer ethernet of the pismo But what else do I need to do or have? In OS X, I clicked on the SYS folder/printer folder the laserwriter is listed in the PPD folder. But in the Pref's panes/Print fax when I click on add a printer, it does Not See my printer! To even be able to pick it! Someone Please help! What do I need to do? The adapters are pricy, so I think looking for a new printer is the way to go, But it's just a shame to give up this laserprinter that has nothing wrong with it! Thanks to everyone for info on this! Kim Oups! After reading my reply, I realize that you might not even be able to connect the printer to your Pismo. Since I think this printer has only serial connection, I'm thinking that you might not even be able to use it with your Pismo. Sure, you could buy a Serial-to-USB adapter, but I'm not sure this old printer would be worth the cost and the trouble to get it hooked to your Pismo. FYI, I found a used LaserWriter 16/600PS on eBay a few months ago for $80. This printer has built-in Ethernet (actually, it has a FriendlyNet kind of connector, so you need a FriendlyNet adaptor, also available for about $5 on eBay), and the printer is fully supported under OS X. There is no need to share it from one computer since the printer is always available on the network. I heard that Tiger will NOT install on G3/Pismo's even tho they have the required: G3+, built-in Firewire. Apple does not list the Pismo... The rumor is that it actually henges on what video card is installed, older ATI vs newer AGP. watermarking groups of photos at same time?
Does anyone know of a MAC supported software that will do watermarking on batches of photos at the same time? All I can find is PC softwares :-( I know photoshop can do this, but that is one photo at a time. I have hundreds of photos that I need to do this to. Please respond off list. Thanks in advance! Thanks... to Shawn Jim for the replies! Is your version of 9.2.1 a retail version? Or is it for a specific machine? Is it a full version or an upgrade? I had a somewhat similar problem on my Dual G4 desktop. I'll try to recall the install sequence. Yes, it's a reatail version it says mac OS 9.2.1 update Cd. I got it in a pack when I purchased OS 9.1 or OX X. Is there any reason why you don't go with 9.2.2? Yes, because I have OS 9.2.1 not OS 9.2.2 i didn't even want to upgrade the classic past OS 9.1, but since I keep getting that notice at every startup now... snip the upgrade CD (9.2.1, IIRC) would not install fully. I had to download or copy the CD contents (don't remember) to the hard drive, restart with extensions off, and run the upgrade from the hard drive. That worked, and I did the downloaded upgrade to 9.2.2. That was the only way I could get to 9.2.2. That was on my Dual G4 Gigabit. May be similar in Kim's case? Pismo G3/Panther 10.3.4 OS 9.1 as classic-can't get 9.1 to 9.2
Has anyone heard of any reason that OS 9.2.1 will not load/upgrade onto OS 9.1(classic)? This is on a pismo(G3) powerbook. I have OS 10.3.4 installed have been running OS 9.1 when in the classic mode. But every few months OS 9.1 will not be able to be the startup disk?? Now every time I startup it comes up says you are running OS 9.1 in classic mode, it is recommended that you ungrade to OS 9.2 So, I have tried tried... but it will not load. I have tried from OS X, I have tried from OS 9.1 (with without extensions on) Anyone have a clue that may be of some help? offtopic? on my Pismo, can I make a quicktime file for a PC?
I'm sorry for being a little off topic, but it is on my Pismo, that I have iLife, would like to take a 2-3minute video I have make it into a quicktime file that will be able to be used on PC, for a website.
