PowerBook G4 and Jaguar
I just got one of the Al'books 1.5ghz 15 with superdrive. I am trying to load Jaguar on it, but it will not boot from the disc. Is it not 'allowed'?? I want to load Jag on a small partition to use some wireless utilities that don't seem to want to work with panther. Thanks! Pat -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Dead Wallstreet
I know this has been talked about before, but I would like to ask anyway. I have a Wallstreet that will not boot. It has been behaving fine with a clean Jaguar install. I left it sleeping for a while then come back and nothing. Try to restart, nothing. I try to do the pram reset holding function, control and shift and hitting the power button. The fan spins and light blinks. Do it again the fan goes off. Try to boot normally nothing, not even the light blinking. So I figured I would break it open and unplug the pram battery. Once I got it open, I forgot how big of a job it was to get to it, so I just unplugged the PMU for a minute or so. Tried it out, same thing. I am just going to have to unplug the pram, or could it be something else? Any tips to getting to the pram plug? Thanks, Pat -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Wallstreet and UDF
I just got a used Wallstreet to play with. I am not very familiar with OS 9. My MacLife started with OS X. So, this OS 9 will not let me mount a UDF disc! It wants to initialize it. The UDF extension is there but not working. I have verified the disc is good using my iBook and 10.3.5. I also tried to reload OS 9 then upgrade to 9.2.2, but nothing seems to work. I have not formatted and reinstalled, just installed new system from within the OS. What should I try next? Thanks, Pat -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Pismo Hard drive problems
Ok, I have a 500mhz Pismo. All has been fine, I tried to start it up, but all I get is click, click, click from the drive. It has a 48 gig Travelstar in it. After the clicking, it shows the question mark and the finder folder. I tried booting with tech tool pro, all it found for volumes was the CD!! I really hope this is not the end of my hard drive. Re: Ebay G5 query
I have also been following this thread. since it has now been brought back up, this is how I 'believe' it goes: You pay for a *spot in a pyramid type scheme. You get access to what they call ebooks. You try to get as many people as possible to go to the site and also buy into the pyramid type scheme. That is why there are so many of them on eBay. People have bought into them, then trying to get others to buy into the pyramid also. The reason I know this is, a friend (now roommate) got suckered into one. It was for a Powerbook!! He is a little eccentric, and really wanted a powerbook. Check it out at electronicsmatrix.com I think. http://www.electronicsmatrix.com/content/templates/tracks.asp? articleid=63zoneid=8 If that link works it is for the Powerbook one. GPS Software (again)
Sorry everyone for the slightly bad link. I was in a hurry The link is to a petition to try and get Garmin and Magellan, the two biggest names in GPS to port there software to OS X. Users of the Mapsource and other software are having to use virtual PC or switch to pc. The main reason to use the said software would be to transfer maps to handheld GPSes. Here is another link hope it works http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/3215.1.12398727029410847560/ macsignup.html Thanks for all the help! I knew I could depend on the Mac community!!! GPS software
I have been looking into GPS software for OS X I believe I have found most everything out there. There are a few people over at geocaching.com that are developing software, but it would be great to have Garmin's apps work natively in OS X. I found this while searching http://www.gpscity.com/gps/brados/3215.1.12398727029410847560/ macsignup.html If you would, check it out and if you feel the need, sign it. Weird Happenings on Wallstreet
Ok I have noticed a small annoyance, more of a concern than anything. My wallstreet that doesn't see much use, recently was being used on campus by a friend. Now, a small folder opens and closes on the dock when waking from sleep. What could this be, or how do I find out. It also happens when booting. I checked the login items, nothing. ???
