Go to your local kitchen store and buy a cookie cooling rack. The wire
kind. They sit about 3/4 " off the ground and your laptop gets plenty of
air. I even got one to match the Lombard I work with perfectly.

I have had luck with pricegrabber.com

enter in your items that you have listed in your email, and it will pop
up several choices

and look for those bare drives, very cheap

Re: Is there any software for linking MPEGs?

2002-08-20 Thread Scott Moran

Seth,

If I understand your question right, just get all your movie files on
your desktop, then open the one you want to open up with. We'll call
this Movie A. Movie A will then pop up in your QT Player. Play the movie
to its end or move your little playback head to the end of the movie.
Then grab the next movie you want (EG Movie B) and drag and drop it in
the player. Wash. Rinse. Thoroughly. Repeat. After all you little clips
are together, move your playhead back to the start and then hit play.
Then use your Save command and give it a name. Voila.

Of course I have been using QT 6 Pro for so long, I cannot remember
whether or not it works in the amateur (?) version.

Well try it and good luck!

S

PS Wow. Two questions I have been able to answer in two days. I do not
feel like such a leech anymore. (Sucking sounds)

Re: OSX on a bronze?

2002-08-04 Thread Scott Moran

"i've read about problems waking up from sleep"

I have been running 10.1.4 for a few weeks or so Jill and have had no
problems either waking up from sleep or any other mishaps. My uncle who
gave me my Lombard 400 mhz, 192 ram (lucky me) thought it would not run
anything past 9. Well he was wrong...it is not as fast as my iMac 500
but I guess I am a patient guy...the uncrashability and ease of use of X
is worth the minor slow down...actually he is quite jealous now of it
but its MINE.

"and something i couldn't find more on about g3s losing the capability
to play dvds and use quicktime iwht osx - but hopefully that was
only early versions? or a misunderstanding? "

Well yeah I can't play DVDs in X (which stinks) but I have not yet had
the occasion to play quicktime movies so I have no experience there...

Yes .mac blows but so many people have this email address. I am just
gonna pay the piper and then pressure them for more and better stuff to
offer us. You can't complain when things are free but when you pay, you
have a better position to bargain from.

Anyway hello Dan, Laurent, Kyle and the other 599 members of G-Books,
do any of you have any experience with either the NuPowr G4 500 mhz or
PowerLogix G4 500 mhz upgrade for the 400 mhz G3 Lombard. It may be to
early to ask but if they are worth, it let me know, or should I just
take my powerbook with me on a roller coaster to make it faster?
