frequent freezes?

lombard, ipod and firewire cards
Just FYI for anyone that has a Lombard. The cheapie cards off ebay $6 from FL DO work. FINALLY got mine working after realizing I had to restart after taking out the wireless card from the same slot...I know ...I know your not supposed to have to but doesn't work unless you do. Successfully connected ipod and TDK firewire cdrw. Help w/connecting ipod
Lombard 333mhz, running os 9.2.2. Trying to get my ipod to connect through a pcmcia firewire port. Have tried two different cards; one off ebay- generic and one is a belkin card. Both have showed up on the desktop but don't see the ipod as being connected. The ipod is in disk mode so doesn't need a powered bus card. I tried my externally powered cdrw and that was not detected through the cards either. All the right extensions are there for firewire support. Do I just need another brand of card? The cardbus is working as it does see my wireless wavelan card. I'm really stumped. I don't know any of your details as far as OS versions you are running, making it a little hard to go into more detail. running os 9.1 and 9.2 have wireless cards in both books tried to set up the network, selected computer to computer but they couldn't see each other. How about get the drivers off the 12 powerbook drive, remove drive. Use another machine to format and install OS9 on a new drive, install the drivers you took off the 12 powerbook and install the drive back into the new 12 powerbook. I bet it works! If you plan to use OS 9, gets a Lucent Wavelan Gold or Silver, or an ORiNOCO Gold or Silver. Those are from Lucent/Agere and are recognized as Apple AirPort cards under OS 9. You just have to install the AirPort software and you're set! Good, already have one from my 1400! A bare CDRW can be had on eBay for somewhere around $20 now, and switching them out is easy Please point me in the right direction! I've only been able to find $60 ones. Now I do have a matshusita 330 cdrw from my old imac. I had put that one in but pulled it before I sold it. It's great but it's a slave drive and can't be configured to boot :-( I tried to find the Sony 700e (I think) but it's pricey. Is there a cdrw drive that fits the expansion bay of a lombard? also what is the best recommended wireless card? I just bought a pc card with firewire off ebay for $6, anyone have any experience with these? My dd had an early ibook with no firewire and now she has an ipod so she wanted a powerbook with firewire. I figured this was a good bet.
