Do you have to use an iBook version (i.e. a then

I installed it just like I installed it on my 9600. No machine-specific
options that I recall.

Make sure there aren't any problems with those Classic fonts. Scan

known-good version instead.

We run a font server (FontReserve) but you can achieve a stable font
library by compiling your fonts, scanning them for problems and then
(snip)
chunk of my business.

Anyone know how to convert MacFonts to PC fonts?

Re: Ebay G5 query

Hmm, on 2/24/04, clearly thinking quite astutely about Ebay G5 query,
simon goslin, penned:
Has anyone seen this advert on ebay?

Apple Power Mac G5 Dual 2Ghz for only $235

This is the link in question...

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=2789998233category=51036

Appartently if your bid is sucessfull you'll get the instructions on how to
go about getting a G5 for peanuts.

Sounds way too dodgy to me, but I just wondered if anyone out there had seen
it and proceeded.

Yeah, on hundreds of items. Pure and obvious scam which no one on this list
is likely to fall for. I just ignore 'em.

Too bad eBay hasn't the ethics to pull that c--p!

Now maybe we can get back to on-topic stuff. (Unless the Apple Power Mac G5
Dual 2Ghz has suddenly become a laptop.)

Yo-yo adapter from an ibook doesn't charge it either. If they wiggle and
hold the connection they can get it to power up.

Called the local Apple repair store, and they suspect the sound card. I
found some fairly good instructions on the internet for taking the thing
apart, but it appears I'll really need to get into the guts to get to the
 sound card.

How tough is it really? What special tools (screwdrivers) might I need? Is
it possible to re-solder cracked connections, or where is a good place to
 find an inexpensive sound card?

My son's new WS has the same problem, apparently.

I too am interested in any answers (in case someone might write off-list?0
