Re: OS X on Lombard
hi, i remember reading that the lombard is picky about having more than 256mb ram to install os x. i can't remember if it prefers the 256 in the lower or upper slot. after the installation of os x, reinstalling the ram should work fine. hope this helps. rama. The first try, installing it over OS 9.2.2, didn't get me anywhere so I wiped the hard drive clean, partitioned it into a 5 G part for OS X and a 1 G for OS 9, installed the latter without any problem, tried several other OS X installs but never got any further than about 2 min before the predicted end ( generally, however, it crashed long before that) after which, invariable, I found myself with a crashed powerbook. In those cases, a check with Disk First Aid revealed that the OS X partition had been corrupted but after a repair, the same seems to happen again albeit that the hard disk seems to be corrupted in different places. If there is anyone out there who has had similar problems and was able to solve them: we are very eager to hear your suggestions! Thanks, Peter -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: DV editing and dvd burning realistic on a Pismo?
dan palka's site has lots of info on upgrading powerbook optical drives: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/macdan/opti_upgrades.html rama. AFAIK, iDVD won't run on a non-G4 system because it relies on Altivec, only present in the G4, to perform the encoding. -Laurent. -- == == Laurent Daudelin Developer, Multifamily, ESO, Fannie Mae mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]Washington, DC, USA Usual disclaimers apply *** -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: OT: Siemens M65 phone MacOSX
OS X has 'Bluetooth File Exchange' in Applications/Utilities, which allows you to transfer pictures, sounds, themes, etc. to and from your phone via bluetooth (IMHO faster than IR). Also via iSync free from Apple, you can sync up Address Book and iCal with your phone. Check the list of compatible devices http://www.apple.com/isync/devices.html . For the Pismo and T68i all you would need is a USB Bluetooth adapter. Another great reason to upgrade to OS X! Rama. If your SE phone has an IrDA (Infrared) port [such as T68i and later], you can use GSM Remote [check on VersionTracker] to connect it to the Pismo under OS9. This will allow you to back up your phone number information to Pismo. You can do the same ( more) on OSX if you use the free Ericsson Client [again see VersionTracker]. It can connect via IrDA Bluetooth, and allows you to back up your phone numbers, camera pictures etc. HTH. -- Best, Mark. -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
