PC magazine recently ran an article on batteries. http://ct.enews.pcmag.com/rd/cts?d=184-2375-5-55-185739-286961-0-0-0-1 They say 500 charge/discharge cycles is about what you should expect. They also figure if you discharge halfway before recharging it counts as half a cycle. I've also heard that a small discharge (90% remaining) might not count as a cycle.
