Am recommending that itunes burn at the slowest speed possible, and, since it takes a while I am assuming it is. This unit shipped with Toast lite, which seems to produce more reliable disks when slow burns (1x,2x,4x) are selected. Is this possible or is it just a figment of my imagination? All lacie support will tell me is to use toast. Is the quality of the blank media to blame? Have seen some discussion regarding durability/reliability of optical media in this forum. In general, should the audio disks produced by a burner be on par with commercial audio CDs? Also, It seems from my experience that burning at real low speed improve the burnt CD quality when played in domestic players. -Laurent. -- Laurent Daudelin AIM/iChat: LaurentDaudelinhttp://nemesys.dyndns.org Logiciels Nemesys Software mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] bozotic /boh-zoh'tik/ or /boh-zo'tik/ adj.: [from the name of a TV clown even more losing than Ronald McDonald] Resembling or having the quality of a bozo; that is, clownish, ludicrously wrong, unintentionally humorous. I've always found burning from the finder to be utterly simple and intuitive... The primary reason that I went for the extra cash to purchase Toast is the separate saving ability. I don't want everything erased each time that I add to a disc. I've been writing a book, and I want each stage saved -- if I wish to look back at an earlier edition. I don't mind the platters scattered across my desktop; they offer consultation, should I desire it, and also save other work separately, with easy additions. I ignorantly purchased a newer edition of Toast when I traded up to a new iBook because of lousy information from someone. I could just as well have used the older program in OS9 that I received from someone and was still in the copied material from the old drive. But I'm okay with what I have. Toast burning is merely drop and burn and then clear the window and close, period. I'm very satisfied. -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... CD burning question: G4 iBook
Very simple I'm sure but I have never had to do this All of my previous experience with burning CDs using Macs has involved VST or LaCie USB external burners using Toast. I just got a G4 iBook which has a CD burner / DVD player installed in it. Can someone point me towards a simple procedure or write-up about how to copy CDs using a Mac like this one with an internal CD writer and Panzer. Re: CD burning question: G4 iBook
Wouldn't you just copy the disc to a folder, then put in the blank, tell your application that you want to make a disc of the cd copy in the folder, or drag and drop the saved copy to the burning application. To copy a CD: (note this is from memory, because my Panther system is at work I've got Jag at home) Insert the CD Start Disk Utility. Select the CD Volume you want to copy. Select File New Image from device Let it go do it's thing. Kick out CD. Select File Burn From Image, select the image and burn, Burning from the Finder is easier: Stick in blank CD Drag content to disk Drag disk to Trash, which turns into a Radiation symbol.
