Greetings
Good morning, New list member here, just saying hello. I'm located in Reading, which is in the south east of England. I'm pretty new to my iBook too - its a 12 G4 800 MHz machine fitted with an airport extreme card installed with the latest version of Mac Office but otherwise is standard. As it happens, I have a 512Mb SODIMM hanging around that I could bung into the iBook, but don't know if this is the right thing to do. Given that its got 256Mb hard-wired in, does that mean my 512Mb SODIMM is too large for it as the total will exceed 640Mb? Anyone care to advise me? -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] ...a state of suspended disaster... things go round looking for me to happen to -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... Re: RAM for G4 iBook ( was: Greetings )
Here's one idea on how to be very specific about RAM versions. Go to the Crucial.com web site. Enter you specific model iBook. Then match up the specs given by Crucial with the details on your SODIMM. Other web sites such as OWC (Other World Computing) and vendors advertising at lowendmac.com the sponsor of this list can help also. mlh/home [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'm pretty new to my iBook too - its a 12 G4 800 MHz machine fitted with an airport extreme card installed with the latest version of Mac Office but otherwise is standard. [snip] Thanks Al, I actually did that to determine what RAM the iBook needed that's how I knew it would take SODIMM at all. I just hoped someone would advise me if adding 512Mb would be ok that's kindly been doine so I shall do just that! Greetings(!) ... and a question about Wallstreet batteries
Hi, Long-time Powerbook user (everything from Portable on up!) and I have FINALLY obtained a Wallstreet I Powerbook! I got it for a few dollars, because it had been damaged by the previous owner. I rebuild old 1xx, 5xx, Duos and 1400s in my spare time, so I figured I could do the same w/ my Wallstreet... and WAS IT EASY (w/ the manual)! Wow... Alot easier than a 5300! But NOW I have a question regarding the battery. At first, it started charging the battery. S-l-o-w-l-y, but it did it. Then, when it was about 3/4 done, I unplugged the AC, and the battery ran the Powerbook. Did it again... ...but this time the Powerbook shut down! After which, the Powerbook now refuses to startup w/ the battery installed. When I try to startup, the computer does the usual chime, then it does nothing. The sleep indicator blinks twice every 5-10 seconds - not at all as fast as when it is asleep - and that is it. I remove the battery, and it starts up just fine... THEN, when I install the battery in either bay, my Wallstr... uh, WS (see? I am learnin' already!) does not see the battery. I don't mean it does not charge it, or use its power; it does not even think a battery is in there! When I install the cd-rom in the right bay, the WS sees it and uses it. When I install the floppy drive in EITHER bay, the WS sees it and uses it! SO what is going on here? Could it be the card with the contacts on it in the expansion bays? OR the charge card in front of it? Since they charged the battery for awhile, I wonder what could have made them go bad? All I did was unplug the AC adapter while the WS was on... THanks, and glad 2 B here... Craig W. Atlanta GA -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
