Re: Netscape and 10.2

2002-09-08 Thread John McGilvary

I am running a Beige/DT with a G4/400, 768 MB Ram.
I downloaded the installer and did a new install following Netscape's
instructions.
Never did get a browser window, so finally pulled it off.
Interestingly enough, I did not get much luck with iCab either.

I've given up on Netscape too. Have you tried Chimera? It's real fast and
getting better every day, from those wonderful folks at Mozilla :-)

 these control panels from 10?

I did a full install, as it is generally recommended for a system upgraded.
I just saved my home directory on a different partition, and since I always
install applications on a different partition as well, I didn't have
anything to save in my old OS X installation, besides my home directory.

Control panels, or system preferences panes can be disabled usually in the
system preferences application. If you want to remove them, then it depends.
Some of them might come with an installer that will offer to uninstall,
others are just copied over /Library/PreferencePanes or
~/Library/PreferencePanes.

case and paste n.: [from `cut and paste'] 1. The addition of a new feature
to an existing system by selecting the code from an existing feature and
pasting it in with minor changes. Common in telephony circles because most
operations in a telephone switch are selected using case statements. Leads
to software bloat.

Did you have any previous Netscape profile? I now remember that I had 2
profiles from Netscape 6.2.2 that were still there. Don't know if that makes
a difference, but thought I should mention it.

fascist adj.: [common] Said of a computer system with excessive or annoying
