Re: PowerBook Superdrive Question

2004-05-09 Thread Shawn Harley
Ricky,

Check "CD's & DVD's" under System Preferences. What is in the scroll
box for "When you insert a blank DVD:"? If "Ignore" is selected, that
may be the problem. Try selecting "Ask what to do".

  Disc Burning: Apple Supported/Shipped
  Removable Media: Yes
  Detachable Drive: No

  Socket Type: Internal
I have reformatted this PB, erasing the hard drive and starting over
from scratch. I have a full install of Panther in it. I've used the
Apple Hardware Diagnostic CD that came with it and it says everything
-- including the Superdrive -- is peachy.

Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something? Or advice on how to
further diagnose this problem? And any success with external DVD
burners in case I've got a lemon drive here?

Thanks in advance for any help or comments.

Hi are you sure that the drive is a super drive as
my Lombard has a combo drive in it and the drive type also reads
CDRW/DVD-R

BUT mine is just a combo drive and i thought that the dvd-r stood for
dvd reader.

my drive is a Samsung. but i have not tried to burn any dvd,s or even
used dvd media discs just the cdrw's
