Yes, I¹ll call QPS inc. Must be a better solution. The Firewire 2 go card
was cheap, so not too much invested to lose... ($29)

Re: QueFire, CDRW not recognized on my Wallstreet using

2002-03-19 Thread John Featherstone

Hmmm? Is it at all OS sensitive?

When I bought the QueFire, and the card both they worked painlessly and
brainlessly every single time. Then I stored it for a month or two... and
upgraded my software and then it didn't work.

And yes, I have noticed that the plug-in is temperamental and sometimes on
the desktop computer ( an old 7200/120 that was upgraded with a Sonnet G3
and USB and Firewire PCI card installed) I have to unplug the cable, replug
and then it works.

I'm a little late on responding to this as I've been out of town. But in case
you're still having the problem here's my 2¢. I have the Que 4/8/32 (I think)
and have also had problems with the computer seeing the drive. I use it with a
Beige G3 desktop with an Orange Micro firewire pci card and with a pismo. Both
computers will sometimes not recognize the drive. It doesn't work more than
half the time with the beige, and I would say 25% of the time with the pismo.
I haven't been able to figure it out, but I suspect the problem is with Que.

More than likely it is the FireWire2Go card. It's older and not compliant, or not
usable with all devices. I had that prob with the same card, my Wallstreet II, and my
Maxtor Firewire drive. I did the same things you did, reinstalling software, etc. When
I called Maxtor they explained this card was NOT OHCI compliant and therefore would
not support the Maxtor. So I bought a Western Digital card that was OHCI compliant and
the firewire Maxtor worked with my Wallstreet II. You may want to call the folks at
Que and run it by them. More than likely it is not your Que or its drivers.

Good Luck,
Gene

The QueFire is the 12X10X32 version. The Card I'm using is NewerTech
FireWire2Go card. I'm running Mac OS 9.2.2 on the PowerBook.

Nothing wrong with my firewire extensions. Because the card works fine to
drive my firewire external hard drive. Same card, same dongle...

The System doesn't even recognize that the CD burner is there. Nothing
wrong with the CD burner either. When I plug it into my desktop Mac running
OS 9.1 it runs fine.

Got to be software related, but can't think what.

Ideas??

Also on my key board, the pg down key is loosing its "spring back" or
recoil. It slips down, and when I slip something under it and lift it up it
stays in the up position for awhile, and then drops back down after hard
use. Is there an easy fix, outside of a new keyboard?
