Could also be the video cable. I've seen a Pismo 500 that locked up or shut off when moved. I had a WS once that shorted when the touching the right battery in the wrong way. Try and move the battery to the left and leave out the drive for a test. (The PMU card contains the battery connectors) If it does turn out to be the problem, Powerbookmedic.com sells the Pismo PMU card for about $60.
