Could also be the video cable. I've seen a Pismo 500 that locked up or shut
off when moved. I isolated it to moving the LCD rather than the whole
laptop, but haven't yet ripped it apart to verify.

This seems rather odd, yes something has come loose, and something is
shorting out the entire motherboard in the laptop, since that is really
the only way to reset the clock like that. I would check all the
critical connections on the motherboard: PRAM battery, CPU, PMU board,
and AC/Sound board. Beyond that, take it to a service tech and have
them check it out, as nobody on the list will be able to nail down what
it is without examining it in person if these connections are fine.

Something hinky is going on. Starting about a half hour ago, if I
move my laptop while it's running, it powers off, instantly. Black

power button a few times) but everytime it does, the clock's been
reset to mid 1969. I figure something's come loose inside, but what?
And what do I do about it?

I had a WS once that shorted when the touching the right battery in the
wrong way. Try and move the battery to the left and leave out the drive
for a test.
It happens when there's nothing in either bay, as well as when on
battery power. Offlist, Craig W. suggested that it might be the Power
Manager card. Does that sound likely to anybody? I've got no clue.

I would suggest it isn't the problem since it happens with two empty
bays. (The PMU card contains the battery connectors) If it does turn
out to be the problem, Powerbookmedic.com sells the Pismo PMU card for
about $60.

Ehm, doesn't the PMU control everything concerning Power Management also
in the Pismo? If not, what does it not control and what controls it instead?

Does this happen when on battery or when plugged in (or both?). If
it only happens when on battery, check your battery contacts. If it
happens while plugged in, it could be a bad solder joint in your
power jack...
