Re: usb problems
I reseated the usb card (as well as the firewire card next to it). I'm sure it's in there right. I tried the printer and cable with my laptop. They work fine there, but when I connect to the usb card, it's a no-go. I connected a usb floppy drive to see if the disk would appear on the desktop--interestingly enough, the floppy doesn't even seem to get power from the port. The light doesn't come on, and of course no disk on the desktop. I'm thinking the card is bad. Kate Kathryn Odell wrote: This is a bit off topic, but it does involve a g3. In addition to my Pismo I have a beige g3 desktop. I added firewire and usb pci cards to it which have worked well for the last few years. However lately I've had problems with the usb-it's not recognizing that the printer is connected. I've uninstalled and installed the print driver (it's a fairly recent hp), but still no luck. Could the card be bad? test some other USB devices try a new cable with the printer try opening up the G3 and pulling and reseating the USB card.
