Stalling ADSL connection, router ?!?

2005-04-29 Thread Larry le Mac
I have just connected a straight forward D-link ADSL router
and now the Internet connection stalls on and off, or at least
I think it's the router...
It works for a period of around a couple of minutes (haven't
timed it) and then everything (Internet, not the Mac) stalls.
All loading web pages in Safari just wait and any downloads
or uploads in Carracho show as (Stalled), and then after
about 10-30 seconds (haven't timed that either) everything
comes back on as usual.
Never had this before.
Any ideas ?

My Linksys has a check box on the setup page for Keep Active.

The function of this setting appears to be to keep the provider from
placing the connection in an inactive status which must be
powered up when traffic starts again.

Do you have a browser based interface to the router?

My Linksys has a check box on the setup page for Keep Active.
It's a D-link and there's an option called Auto-reconnect
and that is enabled, but I believe that is to do with the actual
ADSL session, so that one doesn't have to log back in if
the computer has been inactive for a long time.
What I am talking about here is a stall of around 20 seconds
where no traffic occurs, but the computer responds ok.
