Any thoughts on how to improve this setup. It might be a bit more
stable - it seems to choke during large file transfers, say greater
than a gig, and would be nice to access from the Pismo.

Tiger simply doesn't support AFP/AT, so you'll never be able to
connect from the Pismo to the LC using it.

Connecting from the LC to the Pismo will never be wholly reliable
because AFP/IP in Tiger is twitchy when talking to OS 8/9 machines.

The easiest thing to do might be to try FTP. Tiger has a built-in
ftp server. And on the LC, you can run NetPresenz.

Tiger via appleshare 383 to OS 7.6

2005-12-17 Thread Frank Cornew
Have managed to link my Pismo running tiger via appletalk over
airport to ethernet to an upgraded (040, ethernet) LC running OS
7.6.1. In order to obtain some semblance of understanding between
them on the network I installed the appleshare 3.8.3 client on the LC
and can access the Pismo from the LC. I cannot access the LC from the
pismo due to incompatible afp version. The name of the Pismo shows up
occasionally in the LC's chooser, but when it doesn't, I can access
it by entering the Pismo's IP address.

Any thoughts on how to improve this setup. It might be a bit more
stable - it seems to choke during large file transfers, say greater
than a gig, and would be nice to access from the Pismo.
