Warning messages

2006-02-04 Thread Beniamino Cenci Goga
In the last week I have received 3-4 automated messages a day from
list manager saying that messages sent to my address have bounced.

Since I am now receiving spam also on the .mac account I was
wondering if the two things are linked.

I had never received spam on the .mac (I have it since the day it was
presented at the Macworld and offered for free).

I don't think they are linked. I don't use the .mac address on the
the list, and have also had it since the very beginning. In the past
2 months I have been getting 10 or more spam emails to it per day,
before that I got none for several years. Something's changed but I
don't know what. I am very careful to not give my .mac address to
anyone, I keep a yahoo account for any site that requires an email
address. It's frustrating.

Hello Ben,

Could you send me a sample of one of these messages off-list,
please ? (Include the header as well). I want to see if they are
the same as the ones that I have been receiving lately.

Thanks,

This happens with all of the LEM lists. Every single day practically. I
believe it's the server. Can anyone else comment?

This is a known, and apparently unfixable bug or networking issue in
the mailing list software running on maclaunch.com.

They have nothing to do with SPAM, and they, in fact, have nothing to
do with the list mail, as I continued to receive them when the list
itself was down recently.

Filter them to your Trash. That's what I do, and have done for years.

A common occurance with the maclaunch lists. Send an unsubscribe message,
then after you get confirmation, re-subscribe.

i.e. To unsubscribe, email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

To subscribe, email: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

That's one reason we're moving to googlegroups, folks

Re: Warning messages

2006-02-04 Thread Amber Robey

Ben,

I was not sure if it was the usual LEM bounce messages you were
getting or something different, which is why I asked you to send me one.

As everyone else has said though, if it is from the LEM list/
Maclaunch server, you can safely set up a junk mail filter and ditch
them all without consequence. You will not be trounced off the
list. I never have been.

This problem should be resolved when we move to the new Google Groups
though.

Bounce warning messages, redux

2005-06-06 Thread Brian Scott Oplinger
I know I recently saw a thread on this but my memory's awful and I
forget the upshot.

Am I the only person who's getting daily, or perhaps even more often,
notices about bounced messages from the list only to reply (to clear
the error so that the list sends messages again), see messages and
then get another bounce warning the next day (or later the same day?)

The WARNING! messages

2003-06-12 Thread Patrick Lum
I am an Earthlink subscriber and it worked for me.

In fact, I followed the instructions and it worked so well for me that
I forgot about it and was wondering what all these posts were about.

So, as we search for a solution, it may be of note that although I am
an Earthlink subscriber, I access this list from my .mac(.com) address.

Your suggestion may work for some folks but it DOES NOT work if you
are an
Earthlink subscriber!

Re: The WARNING! messages

2003-06-12 Thread Ryan Coleman
I wonder if the access from the .mac com does it and earthlink is screwed
up?? I am also ticked at earthlink because they are constantly blocking
AppleLinks mails...I have argued with e/l about this and supposedly it's
because the server that A/L uses sends lots of spam out and the e/l filters
block it several times daily...
Regards,
Mike K
Earthlink does a lot of dumb things. Their users are not allowed on
any of my content sites as long as they have their ad-blocker
software going (this is for Windows users only).

That company has a lot to learn.

Warning messages

2002-10-14 Thread Dan Knight

Just a reminder to anyone receiving automated warning messages from the
list server. This situation is beyond our control. Maclaunch runs the
server, and we have reported the problem to them.

The messages are generated automatically. There is nothing we can do
about them short of unsubscribing addresses from the list. We cannot fix
it.

We are working on our own solution, but it's a slow process. If anyone
has strong PHP and MySQL skills -- especially involving sending and
receiving email -- we are desperately looking for help.

Our new software will be a lot better when it gets done, and we will
release it as open source once it's up and running. But until we can
manage things like reading incoming email and sending it out again,
managing subscription requests, etc., we're stuck with the current setup.
