nethack: /net'hak/ n. [Unix] A dungeon game similar to rogue but more
elaborate, distributed in C source over Usenet and very popular at Unix
sites and on PC-class machines (nethack is probably the most widely
distributed of the freeware dungeon games). The earliest versions, written
by Jay Fenlason and later considerably enhanced by Andries Brouwer, were
simply called `hack'. The name changed when maintenance was taken over by a
group of hackers originally organized by Mike Stephenson. There is now an
official site one at `http://www.nethack.org/'. See also moria, rogue,
Angband.

No. However, you might want to get Palm Desktop software, it works
peerfectly fine without a Palm Pilot, and is the old Claris
Organizer, renamed.

It seems to be able to handle more than one thing going on at
the same time. Better play with it first before you invest much time
looking for an alternative.

This means that there are two possibilities. 1) The person does
not know all of the ins and outs of iCal and so it seems like a
hassle to them. (A real possibility since--as with much about Mac--
many controls are not obvious; one has to play with it for a while to
find them.) 2) They want attention.

In either case, the thing to do is to sit down with them; ask
them to tell you exactly what they need in a calendar program and
what it is about iCal that falls short; tell them sincerely things
like I trust your judgement on this, and I want to make sure this
works for you; and give them your complete attention for an hour or
so. You'll get the cooperation you need and gain a powerful ally.

calendar for syncing 2 or 3 schedules? not iCal...

2005-07-25 Thread Brian McEwen

Good to see the list back up. I assume queued messages got deleted,
'cos I do not see a big backlog coming through.

I have been asked what calendar options are working well under OS X,
to sync just 2 or 3 people (or more, but 2 or 3 is the immediate goal).

iCal is not wanted as it doesn't deal well (they say) with double-
booked time slots, which are common for this group. I've not played
with iCal at all, is this correct/ is there a workaround?

It's a campus group but they don't have Exchange server running
anywhere, else I'd suggest Outlook.

Anything else that could work well?

thanks,

Brian
