Re: customs?
It did arrive finally this morning!!! Since the original was a custom, Apple would only replace with the same specs, so I had to get it from Shanghai. The three strikes thing, is at least unofficial Apple policy, at least if you are in warranty/ Paperwork happens, regretfully. SOP result of offshore manufacturing. Re: customs?
I would have thought that Apple would not only have been responsible for all the custom details, but would have cleared everything prior to the shipment hitting the shores. And I always thought these sort of problems corpped up while still in port on the Coast, not in the middle of Indiana! LaterHoward -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and... With FedEx, and drop shipments of individual systems, the 'port of entry' is anywhere the plane lands. Recently both Apple and Gateway BTO systems purchased by the college have shipped directly from factories in Shanghai and Taiwan, as individual shipments. They likely fill entire FedEx and UPS aircraft when they go out, but they're still labelled and shipped as individual purchases, meaning, presumably, all the customs stuff is done somewhat individually... -- Bruce Johnson This is the sig who says 'Ni!' -- G-Books is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/ and...
