what is googlegear? i just got a bismo 500 w/12 gb hd. i received today

they had an insane price - but instead received a module fro one of
ther computers. it has been almost a week trying to get somebody to
correct this with no luck so i am thinking on contacting visa for a
credit and returning it to them.

It might be a good idea to return it if you can. IIRC, people have had
trouble in the past with Dell 2.5 hard drives, in that Dell didn't honor
any warranty service on the drives if they were not used in Dell computers.

If you can get a refund, I'd recommend Other World Computing for a new
drive, though I'm sure others can recommend different Mac-friendly
resellers. OWC has okay prices (especially if you register for their
Special Deals) and now offers good warranty service (at least in my
experience). See http://eshop.macsales.com/specials/MailList.cfm

Good luck.

I also just got a return number for a drive from Dell, it was the 40GB
you are talking about, simply won't format. I have had tons of trouble
with them in the past month or so ... now I have more reason to hate
them than before I bought from them. OWC is a good place as Hal said
but GoogleGear does have a great price.
