what is googlegear? i just got a bismo 500 w/12 gb hd. i received today
a 512 chip from owc so i will be up to 640, but still need to deal with
the hd. i had ordered the 4200 40gb travelstar from dell- don't ask,
they had an insane price - but instead received a module fro one of
ther computers. it has been almost a week trying to get somebody to
correct this with no luck so i am thinking on contacting visa for a
credit and returning it to them.

It might be a good idea to return it if you can. IIRC, people have had
trouble in the past with Dell 2.5 hard drives, in that Dell didn't honor
any warranty service on the drives if they were not used in Dell computers.
If you can get a refund, I'd recommend Other World Computing for a new
drive, though I'm sure others can recommend different Mac-friendly
resellers. OWC has okay prices (especially if you register for their
Special Deals) and now offers good warranty service (at least in my
experience). See http://eshop.macsales.com/specials/MailList.cfm
Good luck.
