Dan, I wanted to thank you and all the Mac. Professor for their time and knowledge answering my questions. By being on the G4 list, I was able to buy a G4 Duel. MDD. and a LCD monitor. put in a second hard drive and everything works. peace to the forces. But another question, how can I boot up with the drive I want without using a external disk repair utility to select. Dan, Peace And Health. I never resolved the problem below. I followed your advise with no luck. I picked up another G4 from eBay, a MDD G4 Duel. Question; can I take my 120gb harddrive from the GigG4 and put it into the MDDG4, or can I add my old HD. to the new machine and use both of them on the same machine? At this point, it could be either the power supply or motherboard. Strip the machine down a bit. No externals except keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Pull the PCI cards and video card. Hit the CUDA button (reset the PMU) *once*. Then try booting... see if you can at least the no gots memory! beeps. What specific PowerMac do you have? Peace And Health, Dan I replaced the 3.6V battery, tested the battery which registered good. In the beginning I used the reset button to jump start the computer, which worked for a week. Now it only lights up and no noise. Its not the power because it lights up right? . Do you think if I replaced the mother board, I could get some power into it. So Peter's suggestion of replacing the PRAM battery is the first step. Odd that two machines would go down at the same time this way tho. What else happened? Not one but two of my G4 machines started to display a static sound when starting up. This is after I downloaded an updated from apple. After the restart both machines stop working . They are not completely dead but no tone and no start up.
