New Yahoo mail on clamshell?
My wife's clamshell uses OSX 10.3. She uses yahoo mail, which has recently started telling her her browswer will soon no longer be supported (Safari 1.3.2). None of the suggested browsers will work on OSX 10.3. Is there a browser that will work with the new yahoo mail? Any suggestions? I don't have a copy of OSX 10.4 to upgrade with. You may have seen references here recently to tenfourfour. That project has some relation to another project that builds up to date Mozilla for versions of OSX before Tiger. See: http://www.floodgap.com/software/classilla/ Secondly, depending on what Yahoo mail REALLY needs, you might be able to set the user agent string in whatever browser you use. In Mozilla, I use an addon caller User Agent Switcher to make this easy. But, you can change the user agent string on almost any browser. Re: New Yahoo mail on clamshell?
Tiger on a Clamshell is not going to be too good, unless it's a 466mhz with 576mb (maxed out) and a 7200rpm HD will make it the best it can be, this will make it usable but it will be right on the line. Reading email and maybe some websites will be the only thing good. It will work though because I have done it, a 366 will probably be slower... -Original Message- >From: "Tina K." >Sent: May 2, 2011 1:52 AM >To: g3-5-list@googlegroups.com >Subject: Re: New Yahoo mail on clamshell? > >On 2011/05/01 06:28, PAR so eloquently wrote: >> Any suggestions? It runs quite well on both. Web browsing can be slow sometimes. I'd rather have a somewhat slow but up to date browser than something faster but not useable. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Re: New Yahoo mail on clamshell?
Have you looked at iCab? iCab 4 uses a recent WebKit engine that should work, you might just need to change the user agent to a recent Safari. It'll also happily run on 10.3.9. Re: New Yahoo mail on clamshell?
TenFourFox may be your browser: http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/ They have separate versions for G4 and G3 processors. But I agree with Tina that you may be better off upgrading the RAM and getting 10.4. I’m using Safari 4 with it, and 10.4 may be even faster than 10.3, given enough RAM. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs. Oops: TenFourFox works from 10.4.11 only... like so many nice programs these days. -- You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
