Re: UPnP/DLNA client

2013-12-24 Thread NODEraser
There are a couple of options (XBMS, Mythbuntu, etc) that will run on
PPC if you're looking for a media front-end to connect directly to a
TV, not sure about streaming. However, most PPC probably won't do too
well with HD due to their graphics hardware.

Anyone know of a solid dedicated UPnP/DLNA client?

I say dedicated because I've tried VLC and don't really like it for that
 purpose.

This will run on 10.5.8, if you know of an intel app, that will be good
 for research as well.

Lookin too, here. I want to stream from my QuickSilver (Leopard) to my new
 Toshiba LED Cloud TV.

I use tvmobili with great success streaming from my mini (Mavericks) to my
Samsung blu-ray, Samsung tv and even my PS3! I think they offer an older
unsupported version for ppc leopard if I recall correctly. There is also
Plex and a few other options. Google “mac dlna server”. Have fun figuring
 out the options!

There’s not a whole lot out there I found this
http://apple.stackexchange.com/a/83078 referring to Leopard explicitly, and
the Wikipedia article on UPnP/DLNA article.
