MacroMaker? That perished when Apple introduced the latest and
greatest shiny new version of their OS -- by which I refer, of
course, to System 7. :-)

Option-Command-Eject or Option-Command-Power = Sleep

I think you're referring to AppleScript.
I mean, there are several tools for scripting /macro creation, but that's
the Apple one.

AFAIK AppleScript is still present in OSX, but there's also the Automator
program: you can find it into OSX's Applications folder.

Lastly, you can set up keyboard shortcuts for various features, thru System
Preferences / Keyboard / Keyboard Shortcuts.

Spark

It's like the old QuicKeys and KeyQuencer but better.

I want to create a shortcut that puts my DA to sleep.

I also like Dockables. It's a collection of tiny applets that you
can put in the dock (or trigger with Spark!) that do simple things -
sleep, reboot, eject, etc. Nice icons too.

Unsanity's Menu Master allows the creation of custom keyboard
shortcuts.

Wouldn't it be easier to use a hot corner in Exposé?
